Le Moor - man I was thinking there must be a website where you can download sound tapes of the 80's
Their knives and their guns could not hold me, their drinks and their drugs could not control me, their education could not school me, their religion could not fool me, their women could never tempt me
their politicians could never rent me, but the babylon daughter still got my pikney

Le Moor - for real, I was thinking imagine a site where you could download Saxon V Ghettotone form 1983 where philip Levi cuss of Lesley Lyrics...you know a full archive, even if each sound systemm had their own web site where you could listen to clips and segments from sessions...man you know how many D90's have reeled up on me never to be replaced
Sounds at the top like Saxon and Coxsone have spent hundreds of thousands over the years on equipment and dub plates - I think it's a sad waste that many of those specials will never be heard again....I'd hate to think they're just protecting their investments.
Still where there's a will there's a way. I remember a few years back I wondered why there isn't a website that lists reggae music by the rhythm track where you can pick a tune and list all songs by different artists on that same riddim, this is absolutely essential when you want to compile counteractions yet now they're popping up all over the place

Keeping a session down in Rome
They sent for Papa Caesar and Ranking Pope
Pope Paul Hifi a' fling di music down
In the vatican sodomites a' boogie down
12 midnight Selassie-I touch down
Parked his chariot on the vaticans ground
Took 12 minutes to string up his sound
Selassie turned on his amp Israel gathered round
Saying Pope-Paul's idrins comeen like clowns
The dutty little sodomites dem a' bend down
a' shout out Pope Hifi wear the crown
Selassie baseline tough like rock stone
He turned it half way the Pope's sound got drowned
When Moses touched down on the microphone
the whole of the vatican roof came down.

That was the clash of all time. I used to own two tapes of this clash, one of them cut with both Mcs as a lot circulating only had Levi chanting
I would love to hear some of the Saxon Dubs again, i feel like ive been in mourning ever since.

There is. dancehallmusic.de - riddimbase | Tunes by Shabba Ranks
Follow that link there and you can put in virtually any artist/ and find every tune they made/ name of riddim/ label/ Producer and year of release. Its a good tool.
'Missed the popping all over the place..' well if you dont know that one its one more.

@BT Good site.
@Incog I think i spoke too soon, have you looked around the link you posted. Theres some serious old school SAXON/Coxsone etc downloads on there. Check out the poster GLAMOUR who is an ardent Saxon fan has 4000 sound tapes, 200 of which are Saxon. Ive downloaded a few already. Im certain i will find the Saxon vs Ghettotown link as its been mentioned on this site several times. If not im going pm this guy and im sure he will have it.

@ BT and Incog
Oh lawd have mercy, the mourning is over, Incog bredrin i owe you for a thousand yrs for posting that link and here's my first installment.
SAXON Vs UNITY- HOMMERTON ROAD, HACKNEY- Wednesday 16th November 1983 (11:13pm)
Man Levi was so god damm advanced its was frightening, breddar could bury entire sounds on his own and did nuff times too....lol. Check out how criss Colonel sounds on his first set and OMG how sweet the first Cocca T dubplate sounds, which Colonel introduces on his first set. Also forgot how Mickey General was easily my favourite Danchall singer those times. I will try and find an unbelieveable dub Saxon cut with him
Dem come in a de place
And dem run up dem mowt
Dem never know Daddy Saxon is a sound dat could never ever get hung whoa
With a MC full of lyrics
And an MC full of gimmics
Hang a sound, hang a sound, hang a sound, all today
Dat no lie
Saxon ago hang a sound, hang a sound, hang a sound, all today
Sorry getting friggin carried away now....lol
You may have to download a zip file first to listen to some of the links from the dancehall site. The file is called WinRaR and you have to just follow the microsoft link if it comes up as default. The latest Windows media player automatically converts a lot of the files after asking you "do you wish to search for right extension"

Le Moor - that's what forums are for bro
Yeah Levi was way ahead of his time, way ahead. His talent rubbed off onto the rest of them Saxon dudes - they all promoted intelligent lyrics. Back in them days nuff man would chat four lines and repeat them, Levi was a breath of fresh air.
Saying that, Colonel used to have a lyric about nobody can roll their tongue like him, in one session he tried to keep up with Horseman (from Dread Diamond) and nearly bit off his own tongue
Horseman, now Lord David V Ghettotone with Horseman riding Fight Fight by Don Carlos and Dennis Brown's Easy take it Easy (you're too rough) - that was a dance!! Him and Ricky Ranking could mash up any blues or dance.
Also don't ramp with Daddy IP from Coxone...he was a breath of fresh air but I heard drugs got the better of him in the end. That was back in 85 the times when all these street madness was just beginning for me. They found him dead in the Thames, heard the effects of drowning made his head swell to ten times its normal size.
And from 1985 to say 1995 Tenor Fly was an absolute don, at one stage he had the game to himself but admittedly most sounds where just clashing dub for dub by then and lyrics and riding riddim kind of went out the window...it was all about the international sound clash.
But back to Tippa, he had this wicked lyric that went something like this...
Only Jah know weh mek mi lyrics a' flow
I have lyrics in my eye I have lyrics on my nose I have lyrics on my shoulder going down my elbow
I have lyrics on my back my foot my belly and my toe
That is no word of a lie it's what I want you to know
My tool is not a knife my tool's the micro
In England I rate myself and in Jamaica Ringo
Do yo love your girl enough to give her your last rolo!
But I do not eat no bounty twix no mars or aero...
Yeah...got to stop downloading...or even uploading some of my classics
Their knives and their guns could not hold me, their drinks and their drugs could not control me, their education could not school me, their religion could not fool me, their women could never tempt me
their politicians could never rent me, but the babylon daughter still got my pikney
