So everyone has it uuh? I mean I know about 15 pple (they area all blacks) with no highly paid jobs though they all have MBA's and sometimes I tell them that here in UK they dont value them that much but why not try jobs outside UK but seems there is an obsession with working for Vodafone and BT
Organisations like black MBA are they really doing something about this huge list of black MBA graduates in UK or its juts another black organisation that gets funding the govt like OBV

Not sure as I'm not from the UK but I do believe any form of higher education is beneficial. Have you thought about looking for jobs abroad?

As far as I am aware, whites have no difficulties getting jobs once they hold an MBA from a respected institution. It would be interesting to know where these people obtained their qualifications, what they were doing before, and it it was they intended to do afterwards.

@Coltrane. We have the same problem back home. In fact one of my family were complaining how useless this qualification is in the real world. She has one, but she said most of the students they recruit cant do practially **** all. There is a wonderfful article in the Harvard Business Reveiw which says can the average MBA holder run a hot dog stand better traditional entrerpenuer and it concluded no. They had good training but it has little value in those terms.
I think it is a good course of education but people havve to realise what it is and what it isn't. Don't mean you can run and manage a business better than somone who hasn't got one.

Seems that the need for MBA's is cyclical. Many businesses today want real world experience coupled with an MBA,instead of the degree by itself.

Yes, I do believe companies are asking far too much from applicants... they want you to be 'superwoman/man', and have many exciting stories to tell and adventurous hobbies (like sports; rowing, white water rafting) when you know that is not how they got their jobs, and be individual...in what way... you don't know what will please them... Back in their day, it was probably a lot of old boy networks and "Do you have a degree", "Yes", "Then you're hired". LOL. They want you to be 'overly well rounded'........ ....... ......... ........ ......... ........ ........ ........ ...... ...... ........ ........ ........ ....... ...... ........ ...... ...... ....... ....... ........ ...... . Blaq...Elaborate on the quality of life that you suppose one could get... in your opinion what would one be sacraficing though, if they left the west? (apart form their current job) Is the competition as tough in these other continents and countries?

Coltrane,
I hear there is a very low glass ceiling for Blacks in the UK, a while back I read an artcle on a Black UK news site. What is the black business spirit like there? I would guess that many a Black MBA would simply take that knowledge back to their ancestral land and make major paper. There are opportuniites just waiting to be developed in the Caribbean and Subsaharan Africa. If not for the ample opportunities in the USA I'd chance things in my ancestral homeland of Haiti.

This is very scary as I was thinking of starting one next year. They cost about £9000 so will it be worth it?

Why not create their own jobs and build their own society. They are MBA graduates. Our problem is that slaveryconditioned black people to be dependant on their master, even for a job. So unite, organized and create our own economy. Start by buying black own products and putting the money back into our own economy to empower ourselves. Suggestion teach children to nuture by planting a tree in your backyard, or having a plant in their room. Make sure it is well takencare of and that it flourishes. Heh! its just a grassroot idea .

Trickle down all that knowledge back to your own culture, empower Africa and the Carribean. Thats what MBA is all about. United we stand - Divided we fall.

Yes Vivi..ideally I feel to gather experience in the industry first, make contacts, and then set up on your own... things are a bit harder these days because the first industires started really small and from nothing and got to grow with the industries with changing technology and markets... so then when you have the experience .... you won't use your resources badly and hopefuully get it right the first time and grow from there. At the minute life is good... that why I why I was wondering what blaq could say was in store for me, elsewhere. ...... ..... ...... ...... ....... ......... ....... ....... ....... ....... ........ ....... ........ ....... ....... ...... ...... ........ ....... ....... ....... ....... .......As far as a higher standard of life goes... this may be relative... at the minute rent, bills and leisure are 1% per month of my salary (around 10% per monthly pay)....I have a nice place and I am free to spend or save the rest... other things are OK. I mean, I'm sure there are people in those countries who compete for those very jobs as well, what would it be like for others.. I guess it would depend on what type of industries that are saturated or growing, the strength of the currency etc. I guess it is for those seeking jobs. Blaq... you say people love their comforts too much... what are they? but what are these comforts that they | |
