I am an Engineer. I work in the US. I am now with my 4th major company after surviving a 2004, 2002, 1998 employment disaster; I was laid off.
I love my profession, however, at most of the jobs I have had and offices where I have been assigned, I find myself the only black or only black engineer. I love my profession however I see our representation within this field (in the US) to be drastically poor.
How is the professional life in the UK being both black and an engineer? How are you at the corporate politics on a technical level?
How is finding employment? Do you struggle with the thought of not being hired because of who you are?
When you are hired, do you find yourself the "only one black (engineer)" in your company?
How have you managed to survive for so long within a world (your company) where you (based on your environment) may not exactly fit? (if this applies)
