Myself and friends are thinking of setting up a website dedicated to getting afro-centric knowledge out there to the masses but me being the indesicive one we can't think up a name.

So far we've got;

I like them all except prehaps blackthought.com cause its the name of a poet and the guy is cool.

Its a toss between Afro-centric.com/The-Afro-Central.com and Theblackdot.com any opinions? Its gonna be strictly pro and deeper than any sea or river known to man.

I don't own Blackthought.com. Wish I did. Those annoyingcompanies seem to pick up all the good names and sell them at a high price its well annoying.

i like afrocentric and blackdot but if you had blackdot i would make it .net instead of .com rolls off tongue easier

Hmmm...if I choose between the three then it'd have to be blackthought.com, but I think you said that one is already taken, right?

Blackdot.com seems pretty straightforward on paper but I can imagine trying to share it aloud: "no not 'dot,' 'dot!' That one might be difficult.

Wish I was more creative with names but can't think of any alternatives right now...

instead of theafrocentralcom, what about theafricancentral.com ? or just africancentral.com?

why i like it is because it can mean:

the african (people) is central (...to what your site is concerned with)

thiswill bea bustling space for africans to connect on their journeys(like grand central station, new york).

the site can be like aprimary source of infofor the african community (a central source of info for africans)

if you use afro instead of african - it dilutes it in a way...so if this site will be africancentral (or african centred) then let it be that! drop the afro and let it be AFRICAN.

Funny that blackchat owns blackthought.co.uk what a coincidence. Bit domain hogging but all is fair in love and business I guess.

The idea is supposed to revolve around books. I know umbra is thinking of setting up a black book club but my idea for this site was to have a whole heap of African history (pre flipping colonial) in one place with books and a forum.. like an African libary a place to go and get yo' mind right.

Thinking about it I might go withthe libary thingor something, what do you think? A bit too much prehaps? Would be good to make it an actual online libray but thats too much.
