Thinking about setting up a business in the states, prehaps Canada depending on the tax.

Just wanted to know, is there a national database where people can check up on INC's out there in the states?

Also, how is it running a company out there? Do you have to register and pay a whole heap of tax or do you have an American version of sole traders whereas you register but aren't incorporated?
