Hi All

Anyone have any contacts with registered charities working for the education and advising black diaspora on achieving their potential?

I would like to get togther with some experienced people to put together a conference in London for black people who feel they are not getting enough out of their working educational lives - motivational speakers, syndicate exercises, adviceetc..

I have ideas for funding and a network on contact working in diversity who could put together a good event but i would like a reputable name to put it all under.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.niceone.gif

What do you want to achieve? I know a few folks who could be useful, but would help if you could be a little more precise about what you're after.....

well Rebel....

I have been to various different motivational events aimed at increasing capacity for personal development through changing attitudes, increasing motivation,etc.. and have found them to be very useful, however these are usually through work or religious groupsand unless you have a diversity network within your workplace or church then it is very difficult to get to attend these type of functions.

so.. being the impulsive person that I am, I found out about some funding that could be available to registered charities to mark the 200 years since the abolition of slavery and would like to make an application, with the support of a registered charity, to put together an event - or even a network of events - to talk to the diaspora about options available to them and a little bit on 'soft skills' such as personal motivation and how to look at problems differently.

Well....still think you could do with being clearer about your aims - who you're trying to reach (e.g.,students? the employed? people working in a particular sector/occupation?), what difference you're trying to make to them....would help to narrow down the possible range of people/organisations you might then approach to partner up with.....also timescale for organising something in March is a little short - can still be done, but tight...

Not trying to be unhelpful, but there is already a fair amount going on in the general area of what you're talking about...offering something new or different would be a good way of making an event attractive to people....care to say more?
