Whathave you noticed/what do you think?

Sitting here I always notice how many come to my work place look through the window and turn around but thats expected.

The other day was a brilliant example, bit disappointed in my kid bro, I was born and raised in Tottenham through povertythe kid ismore middle class, ''british'' as he call it (yuck).Hejust dosen't get it and is dyamn stubborn to boot, listens to all that european hippie crap. Anyway, this european woman came in the other day talking about hippie type stuff and how shes a distributor of independant films, some family in Sufflok who live in recluce making steam engines,

''The made an announcement in the 70s about how we should all stick to steam because we don't have much oil and need to be self sufficient but no one listened and look whats happening now!''

Wow, what insight.

*roll eyes*

Its called colonialism, a war on the 'Third' world for crying out loud. So shes chatting away says that the films she distributes wouldn't really sell here, she walks around for a bit and is surprised to find other independant films in the store, maybe the films will sell after all!

She obviously walked in and drew all kinds of assumptions, black owned store wouldn't know much about films, hip hop music, pay no attention to the Jazz, rock and soul artists on the shelves and so on...just and example but it showshow their ignorance effects our businesess. (Not going into global issues and fixed prices on goods and materials here, I'm talking close contact disporan issues)

Other examples include magazine companies (one in particular) assuming their magazine wouldn't shift due to the apparent target audience of the store, not noticing the Dance music section or the fact we have the same target audience for the most part.

URGH, what lowlives. Have even forgotten the point I was trying to make.

Anyone else notice how their (ever so convinient) ignorance effects our business? I like the whole, ''Oh I wouldn't go in there'' Ie; I wouldn't buy from them...''They'e all criminals!'' contradiction along with the shock factor when mentioning european spending no goareas.

I wanted to know if the Dagara elders could tell the diffrence between fiction and reality. The elders did not understand what a starship is, they did not understand what the fussy uniforms had to do with anything but they recognized in Spock a Kontomble of the seventh planet... they had never seen a Kontomble that big.

Apedemak

You almost forgot what your point was.

But the example was a good one.

Unfortunately it works the other way around too. In this respect we stand to lose far more.

In some respects it has a lot to do with Merchandising - Product placement and general ambience.

Its sad how we dont have the rich and famous black business people like they do in America.

Having said that, money is to be made in targeting europeans, since this is a white country.

I am noticing WI food is getting very popular now, please god don't let asians run all the West Indian restaraunts. This is getting big now, and if some people jumped on the bandwagon they could fill a demand that's there.

At least we have Nigerians and Ghanians, who are very business-minded and well-educated people.

That reminds me, did anyone see that the chief of surgeons in this country is a brother.

Black people are making real strides as well in this country. A lot of second generation west africans are going to make a lot of strides in this country, trust, this generation will do very well
