grin chartered institute of marketing introductory certificate - 22-04-08, 05:35 PM

any marketing people in bnv

i am after some dileberation strongly looking to doing this course. the one i intend to do is done through home learning college and is accredited by the chartered institute of marketing. it comes with affiliate membership of CIM which can be upgraded once qualified so i would have student status till i pass. it can be taken up to two years

i met with a course tutor/advisor and she said that altogether it requires 180hrs work/study. i can complete in as little time as possible

you get all course material exams including endless retakes covered by the fee and 1yr or 2 continued tutor support if needed whilst working

my other option was business studies but she felt with this one you can transfer the skills across many different businesses

thoughts opinions
please also say of you are part of CIM or any professional body

thanks in advance

ps this suits me work from home i would only need to go to a centre to do an exam when ready

Pity you committed to HLC before I saw this thread. Know a few people who did their CIM though ICS, plus Hubby did his 16th edition through them....

Good luck!

I'm not a CIM member but I am with the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development). At one stage was going to do one of these CIM courses and found that with certain degrees you don't necessarily have to go in at introductory level. Might be worth making sure you are going for the right level.

I'm not surprised that the person advised you to stick to marketing LOL. A business course would or at least should cover marketing and promotion as well as other areas that you could use for your own business.

Once you do the Marketing course, will you study business after?
Also did your degree not have any business modules in there?

@maat
mmm i am considering doing a business course after, but just on the basics so i get a decent understanding of the key concepts etc.

i could have negotiated a higher starting point but figured i might aswell start where it will not be too over powering as although off work i have got soldiers to take care of and now its birthday party season.

my degree did not cover any business modules. i did cover advertising so i hope that will help

i got the 1st set of my course materials today.
