Ever heard that boring statement 'Thou shall not kill' being used to shutpeopleup.
Well I find this statement quite fascinating because it has been used as a stick to attack many cultures and religions. we have heard of the so called arguments about religions breeding violence and being the source of all wars and conflicts. then we hear about the attack onMuslimsand Jews on how they slaughter cows and sheeps.
I personally think killing isn't quite what everyone perceives it to be. For man to survive he has to kill indirectly or directly and the day man stops killing will be the day man stops living. Think about it we eat meat -we kill cows, pigs, chickens, monkeys, cockroaches etc. We fall sick we take medicine to kill germs.
Nowadaysdays we have so called 'modern thinkers' who go about saying they don't like killing any animals hence have turned vegetarians P McCartney and his Brigade. Did they ever wonder that, to eat vegetables you have to kill trees? I mean if you love life and are compassionate to living thingswhy not be universally compassionate?
As for the killings of certain hard core dangerous to society crimminals. I personally believe that death sentence ought to be brought back into the justice system. sentences are no longer harsh enough to deter crimminals from commiting serious crimes.
what are your views on killing you peaceful lot
Used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.

I go hunting with hounds now and again, so I indirectly kill foxes......humanely.
Plus I can't miss a day going lamping...basically shooting rabbits for fun.
I'm sometimes nicknamed the Harold Shipman of the woods by the Badger community.

I understand your logic, I just think your point is a little off. I think the correct connotation of that word "kill" beingused in this instance is "murder" whichI would think is a direct reference to peoplespecifically and animals under certaincircumstances. If by kill, you are stictly speaking ofending the physical life of another organism, then we are obviously all "killers" in that sense. Its is the unavoidable cycle of existence. Transformation and regeneration are natural. I think it its important that we look at it from a functionality standpoint. Fruits and vegetables are SUPPOSED to be eaten. Some animals are carnivores and eat other animals because that is their function. There is an inhenrent intelligence in nature that regulates and demands a certain balance. The functionality of any given thing is a part of that intelligence.

As far as the death penalty, I don't think we should have it. Especially in a racist society with a corrupt justice system. I think this issue is a no brainer. I believe that killing someone is only justifiable in self-defense. Be that nation, community, or personal. By that I don't mean ridiculous, self-serving, imperialistic war, I mean resisting oppression, fight for sovereignty, defense of self and property.
I'm not saying that I am free of all contradiction, but I am saying that I seek to be consistent in my application of my beliefs. I recently stopped buying leather and eating all types of meat for these very reasons. I'm not going to diss anyone for eating meat howver. It tastes good and its a part of most cultures so the practice is highly engrained into our psyche.

@Flow-Clever. Interesting topic and yes reflective of the attitudes which are bred in this type of social system. In an agricultural society people think nothing of particular things considered heinous here.
Got no problem with killing anything for food, people of course withstanding. The issue is not killing but on wanton killing for me.
Don't support the death penalty on principle whoever it is. Even though I believe life is a life sentence and for certain crimes you can forget ever seeing the light of day.
Got no problems with people being killed in war, war is normal and human behaviour or circumstances akin to war eg where one group is violating another eg attacking and killing etc. Do not accept that children are acceptable targets in war nor women for the most part unless they enter the fray and then they get worse than men as far as I am concerned.
