Peace!

oooooohhhh! Medusa, Your so right! people love feed this falacy of Afrcans selling ourselves, and this has been a tool used to take the focus of Europeans & ARABS, and also in order to create disunity between Afrkans in the Diaspora and those born at home.

the fact of the matter is that most of us who were enslaved were kidnapped, not sold. most of those that were sold were sold by European and Arab Tradesmen- who did big buisnes in Afrika. Thirdly those Afrikans who they say sold Afrikans were already Islamic, or Christian, and did so in the name of there religions under the guidance of those who taught them it- (Arabs & Europeans) So Traditional Afrikan Culture "never allowed you to be made a slave", infact those who remained living according Afrikan Tradition were those who fought oppression! The Slave was invented when the Afrikan stoped living like an Afrkan.

Besides, which religion was the enslaver? we were enslaved in the name of Islam & Christianity, not in the name of Afrikan Tradition!

Medusa

aint! wrong! Your religion Islam enslaved people and sold them to the Europeans on the excuse of ATR being kafirun. African Traditional Religion is the way of life of the African,it is only through our own beliefs that we are God. And we are God because had it not been for the African, there be no humanity.Go ahead and be a slave to the Arabs religion, but don't diss the original religion of God,Africa.

Oh lordy!

You chose "Medusa"--- a "greek" goddess of sorcery----as a screen name and call yourself an advocate of original African religion?

Moving along......

If African traditional religion was the best for us why didn't it protect us from being enslaved by BOTH the Arab Muslims and the White Christian?

Heck yes my religion enslaved people.....wouldn't you rather be on a winning team than a losing one?

one would not call some one who attends church every sunday a Muslim, even if there life style can be honestly decribed as Godly.
---------
let look at this from Gods perspective. To God, the only REALLY important thing is belief and faith in Him ONLY as a UNIQUE and SINGULAR GOD. He wants us to worship and obey Him. He wants us to live morally correct and just lives. Now as long as you do this, in the eyes of God, you are a muslim. It is said in the Quran that the WHOLE world is a MASJID - a place of prayer - ie: the whole world is HOLY - so wether you pray in a churh or a mosque you can be in a state of Islam and be a Muslim.

think- if a man had NEVER heard of muhammed, christ, islam, the bible etc.. but lived the type of life i described above, would God curse him JUST because he never SAID he was a christian or Muslim? of course not. it is in your ACTIONS and THOUGHTS that you become Muslim, not by tongue.

think- there are many people who call themselves Muslim but because of their actions and thoughts, really arent. just as there are many who have never CALLED themselves muslim but through their actions and thoughts, really are.
'
this is why Allah say in the Quran- 'the only religion to be accepted by ME is Islam'. - and this is why He also said that - 'amongst the christians and jews there are some that are believers -

and about slavery, you surely must know that a LARGE proportion of slaves were muslim. estimates range from 20%- 50%

read how these slaves tried to keep Islam alive:

I was raised in a community with traditional beliefs, and even though the christian religion was brought to us for some years, we maintained our old ways and sacred places. Though I have studied some other ways, the one that my forefathers had and the ways of my homeland have always seemed right for me and my family.

Do you practice these righteous beliefs where you presently reside in Delaware?

It is not possible for me to observe the rituals and traditional practices, but I hold to my beliefs. I feel it is similar to a Christian who cannot attend mass because he is in a land with no churches, but he may still behave and think as a Christian. As I am travelling throughout the world I know that when I am home I may make the proper observances in my sacred places.
