Ok was having this dicussion with my aunt last night and she was saying that if you are not a Christian but you do good things all youre life, ie help the poor etc than you will go to heaven but as I understand from the Bible that the only way to heaven was through Jesus Christ " I am the way the truth and the life" or in John 3 v 16 - 17 and it states that those who dont believe in Him will have eternal damnation but those who do will have eternal life therefore you can not get int to heaven but through Jesus. I just wonndered what everyones thoughts were on this.
Authenticity means a lot to me

There are two intrinsic problems I have with what you say:
1. You are only doing good things for the sake of a fat reward at the end of your life.
2. That Christianity is the only way to God

I agree with you. Christ is clear on what it takes for an individual to get to heaven. We must accept him as our lord and saviour. As people we want to be our own Lords we want to live life our own way, that is why it is so hard for many people to accept Christ. Instead of accepting him for fear of someone taking control, they distort the Word and come up with false doctrines. He says that "I am the way the truth and the life, no man comes to the father.....know man comes to the father...I..I..say..no..I..say no man. No man born from the seed of a women. No sinful man who thinks that he can get to heaven off his own righteousness...I say no man...can come to the father except through me. God bless yall. peace. ha ha ha ha. Tried to do somethin a little different.

I used to think that those that do good things and aren't christian will get to heaven, but Christ is the only prophet to ever say he is the only way to the father.

Anni,
I highly agree with you on that.I used to think the same thing about doing good deeds etc. It's all good that you do that, good will not ignore for you for it, but you're right. Along with doing good deeds, you must also become saved and you must always be obedient to the lord no matter how samaritan-like you are. You doing good deeds is fine, but that is not enough with the lord if you don't. You have proven that point through that scripture. You cannot get anymore definitive than that.

1. Well actually, going to heaven would just be a bonous. We're here to serve God, we're not doing it to get a fat reward as you said. If that was the case, then we would be seen as selfish, there fore not actually getting in to heaven as our heart would not be pure. I think thats right but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

2. In my opinion Christianity is the only way to truly knowing God but I do respect other peoples opinions on that matter.

I made my two queries overly simplistic...however, I am not even going to bother to challenge you for the following reasons:
