To my dear Brothers and Sisters in the U.S. Armed Forces:

As-Salaam Alaikum (God's Peace Be Unto You.)

As a student and follower of the Hon. Louis Farrakhan and a former member of the U.S. Armed forces, I am writing this letter out of my deep concern and love for you, my family, who may not fully realize the gravity of the situation to which you have lent your most sacred lives.

"I, _______________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all ENEMIES, foreign and DOMESTIC; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will OBEY THE ORDERS of the President of the United States AND THE ORDERS of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

I remember the day I took this oath. I remember where I was, and I remember how I felt.

As a Black man living in America, there was no way I could be TOTALLY comfortable saying those words. There was no way I could be totally comfortable swearing my life to protect a nation that has never protected me or my people. There was no way I could be equally willing to spill my blood for a country that has never treated me or my people equally.

So uncomfortable was I with what I was saying, I kept silent when it was time to say the word "swear"...I couldn't even seem to use the word "affirm". My conscience, weak and underdeveloped as it may have been at that time, would not let me do it. But, I went along.

I joined the United States Navy in March of 1984. From the very beginning I had the gut feeling that I was in the wrong place, for many reasons, among which was that which I stated previously.

During my tour of duty, I saw close up, as many of you do now, the degree of racism and hatred and sheer wickedness of the people who are in charge...all the way up to the Commander-in-Chief, Himself. But still, I tolerated it as best I could. This was the case for the length of my tour, which ended in 1989, when I first encountered the Teachings of the Hon. Elijah Muhammad, via his National Representative, the Hon. Louis Farrakhan.

Why do I bring this up? It is because of a point of principle I wish to touch on.

The Hon. Elijah Muhammad taught us that the Original (Black) people of the Earth are created Righteous by Nature, and that our present terrible condition is NOT who we really are, but who we have been MADE by our open enemies - White people in general and the U.S. Gov't in particular. If we - yes, YOU too - are Righteous by Nature, then in our Nature we Crave Truth(Knowledge of Self), Freedom, Justice and Equality.

When I began to examine the Truth of my circumstances, based on what I was being taught by the Hon. Louis Farrakhan, it became more and more difficult to reconcile within myself the circumstances I was surrounded by with the Truth that was boiling Inside me. I had to ask myself some very piercing questions:

Do I love God? Yes!
Do I love Truth? Yes!
Do I love MySELF? Yes!
Do I love my People? Yes!
Do I love Freedom, Justice and Equality for myself and my people? YES!
Is the U.S. Gov't a RIGHTEOUS governemnt? NO!
Is the U.S. Gov't and it's institutions providing Freedom, Justice and Equality for me and my people? NO!!
Can I live with myself being a part of a government like this, knowing what I know? HELL NO!!

How -after all the hell that my people and I have caught, and are catching, at the hands of this Gov't -am I JUSTIFIED in putting my only and sacred Life on the Line for a nation who consistently violates the rights of me and my people, and others around the world?

What do I look like putting on the uniform of the people who destroyed MY people, and have yet to even ACKNOWLEDGE their Crime against Humanity..against US???

What do I look like going off to kill people who have NEVER done ANYTHING to me OR my people, while the ones sending me off are STILL KILLING me and my people in the streets...in the jails...in the hospitals??

What do I look like allowing myself, as a Child of God, to be used to do the work of the DEVIL against my people and people around the world??? I Looked like a DAMNED FOOL!! "Damned" meaning "cursed by God", and "fool" meaning "a person without common sense, or the will to develop it." I couldn't live like that any more...so I got out!!

My dear Brothers and Sisters, please try to consider the REALITY of what you are doing...what you are lending yourselves to. It is NOT of God...it is NOT just...it is NOT right! We are no more justified in fighting for this nation than the Children of Israel were justified in fighting for "Pharoah" (according to the Bible and Qur'an).

If you LOVE God...if you LOVE the Truth...if you LOVE yourselves and your people...if you LOVE Freedom, Justice and Equality...then COME OUT of your and our ENEMIES' Uniform! COME OUT from under America's control and influence and wickedness! "Come out of her, my people, lest you be partakers in her sins, and sharers in her plagues."

Please listen to the Hon. Louis Farrakhan...not for the purpose of necessarily becoming "Muslims", but for the purpose of receiving that Truth that will make you FREE, Justified and Equal in the Eyes of God and your people all over the world!! We have been"damned fools"long enough, dear Brothers and Sisters - over 400 years - let us Come out of our foolishness, and answer the call of our God, and be Blessed!

Good post brother....

Such hatred preached and directed towards a race of people based on color is wrong.....for blacks and for whites. This sounds so much like what a white person would say.......use Christian references and quote the Bible...and the message sounds the same...only the skin tone of the messenger is different.

Any man that preaches hate and evolks the name of God.....*sighs*...hating one of God's own children....I say is misguided (no disrepsect intended).

The "Eternal One" created all life, therefore all life is of him.....who man I to hate one part of that life. I as a matter of fact fight with this confliction as well.

I remember my grandfather, sick and old with wisdom,
hammering his last nail into the wood of my old home,
his eyes dry of tears, nothing left to cry.
He said that I was exotic,
but like vomit, I was tough to swallow.
we sat in our pot,
boiling bothered and hot,
him dying, and me aspiring.
we dreamt and imagined far away places,
where justice ate away faces,
and guts and heads and arms too,
devouring on their discontent,
pecking and licking and chewing on their troubles,
gulping on their fears,
belching out assurance and security for all.
but this does not happen here,
justice does not dine here,
justice dies here,
it cannot take the sun,
or the poverty,
or the lack of sanitation,
but those are only excuses,
because really the truth is,
my ribs are too sour for it's tongue,
my skin is too well done.

In all honesty, I wouldn't mind fighting and killing non-Muslim enemy nations if I was able to get a share of the women, wealth, land, and other resources of value like the militaries of the past.

But hell, to tell me to do all this shooting, killing, and policing and all you're gonna promise me is a f*cking GI Bill and a lifetime of shitty free health-care??????
