The 'nature' of God can be split into 2 parts, the masculine and feminine.
what i mean by these terms is not that God is a man or woman, but His attributes are similar to those of men and women.
if we look at a sterotypical man. strong, aggresive/defensive, dominant, disciplinarian and master of the home.
and a woman. meak, , passive, merciful, loving, caring, the 'creator'.
these are of course over-genarlisations but i think you can understand what i mean.
if we look at the jewish faith and the laws of moses we can see very 'masculine' ideals. judaism is dominated by THE LAW. its rules and its punishments. there does not seem to be much space for mercy. the teachings of Moses seem to exagerate God the disciplinarian.
now consider jesus. very 'feminine' in nature. passive and full of mercy. his teachings exagerated the LOVE of God.
now consider Islam. Both 'masculine' and 'feminine'. made up of LAW and LOVE. punishment and mercy. It is the combination of Judaism and Christianity that brings the REAL nature of God to man. muhammed said that Allah holds up the world between His wrath and His mercy but His mercy is greater than His wrath.
what is unfortuante of non-muslims is that they only ever focus on the LAW of Islam. the masculine of Islam and the Wrath of God. but the REAL beauty lies in its mercy, its 'feminine' half. there are a MULTITUDE number of stories that demonstrate Muhammeds mercy.
read:
there was an old woman who used to throw rubbish outside the home of muhammed. she hated him. his companinons wanted to punish her for this. he told them 'No, leave her'. One day there was no rubbish so the prophet became curious. he visited the woman in her home and found her ill. He then prayed for her to be healed.
This is mercy.there are many other stories such as this but do you take the time to search for them?
think, after establishing religions of LAW and MERCY, is it not logical to establish one that combines both? Islam is the natural succesor and is fitting to be the LAST and only faith acceptable to God.
read:
The Prophet listed women as the 3 things he loved from the world. What he meant was this:
"When the Prophet says he loved women, what he's saying is that he loved the qualities that women posessed. Women by their nature possess qualities that are beloved to Allah, while as men they have to learn those qualities their difficult to learn. One of them is Rahma (mercy) most women have Rahma and the womb is the source of Rahma according to the hadith, in this world. So women by nature have Rahma while as a man it's something that he has to really strive and work on to get. Another thing is women tend to be by nature humble - there is more humility in women - women are less tend to boast. This is known even in academia! Men tend to be more proud of their work and to make sure everybody knows what they have achieved. One of the scholars of Andalusia said that the meaning of that hadith was the greatest manifestation of Allah's attributes is in women. There are more divine qualities in a woman then their are in a man." - Shaykh Hamza Yusuf
there is a story of a mother running around looking for her child. when she finds him she quickly gives him her breast to comfort him. Muhammed, on seeing this, said 'will this mother throw her child into tht fire?' , 'No' his companions replied.'Allah will have more mercy for you on judgement day than this mother to her child' was his reply.
some sufis go as far as to call Allah 'She' instead of 'He'. personally i will only call Allah by what He has asked us to call Him by, but i can understand the reasoning behind it.
so next time before you judge islam, consider both its masculine and feminine side, its ying and yang.
YaHuWaH Eloh(im) - HuwaAllah - He is Allah
