Known as 'Tawhid' in Islam, the concept of the Oneness of God was stressed by Moses in a Biblical passage known as the "Shema" or the Jewish creed of faith: "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord." (Deuteronomy 6:4)

It was repeated word-for-word approximately 1500 years later by Jesus when he said: "...The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord." (Mark 12:29)

Muhammad came along approximately 600 years later, bringing the same message again: "And your God is One God: There is no God but He, ..." (The Qur'an 2:163)

do jews and muslims claim their respective prophets are 'god'? no.

does the nature of God ever change? no.

I strongly agree with you.

HE IS THE ONE AND ONLY ONE. HE IS NOT TWO IN ONE OR THREE IN ONE. THIS MEANS THAT ISLAM REJECTS THE IDEA OF TRINITY OR ANY IDEA OF GOD WHICH IMPLIES MORE THAN ONE GOD IN ONE.

What Muslims fail to realise is the trinity is an intrinsic relationship not an extrinsic one so christians do actually believe in one God. Justas the Sun is acircle, light and heatso the father Son and Holy spirit is God.The relationship betweenGod and his word is the similar to the relationship between ourknowledge andthought.

think a bit deeper. are light and heat the same? is knowledge and thought the same? they are not. one may come from the other but they are not equal. God can only be equal to God. God can not be equal to a man who ate and slept. do you see?

1 John 5

7[/suP]For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 8[/suP]And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.

(emphasis, my own...)

only one can be ONE.

three can never fit.

is your anger the same as your wrath? they are different.

is liquid the same as steam? they are different.

can God be the same as man? they are different.

can man, who is capable of sin , be like God, whos PERFECTION is the complete opposite of sin?

was Jesus CAPABLE of sin? yes, he was a man!
