Hi Room,
Forgive me if this topic has been raised before, but I just wanted some external views on a heated topic my partner and I have been having for days!!!
It is a agreed consensus that God created humans in his image...God is usually referred to as HE, FATHER, ETC...basically a male entity.
If his own image is wo(mb)an aswell, should he look like a woman too?
Or is he both, androgoneous(forgive spelling!)
Or is my mortal mind unable to comprehend the apperance of God?
Is this a fallacy of His-tory?
Is Gods image reflected in the tangiblity of Nature/society?
Let me know your views?
This post is in no way intended to offend anybody (of any religion), it is simply a knowledge seeking exercise. I hope members of the forum will impart their wisdom on me, it is graciously accepted.

Unlike you I use to question what and where didGod come from............
My believe nowis that GOD is SOMETHING, NOTHING AND EVERYTHING....... he created every single thingabout the universe..... hence the notion of question if he was a MALE or FEMALE shouldn'texist......
the way I see it yours and mine mortal mind will is unable to comprehend the appearance of God......
I hope that gives you some insight into what you are asking

The Bible has caused so much confusion and causes people not to apply simple common sense.
How can God be a male or female when it was the source of both principles.

Ive never heard a Zen Buddist talking about he/ she or that God created man in his own image. Why just man??

Ive only read that in the Bible. Myabe you can throw the Koran in for good measure since they are both based off similar his stories.

@BLACKTHOUGHT, thankyou for taking the time out to reply to my post. But as I think about it I have never questioned what or where God came from, youre answer has led me to question why, I have never questioned this before?I have always believed God is all knowing, all real and all love, standard, and now you got me thinking...
:?, oh my head hurts...this is your fault!...hehe..nice one!
@manamusa, Thankyou, thankyou! I swear, I didnt think about like that(lateral thinking=not my strong point), I think my partner and I got so wrapped up in applying human logic to it, we didnt take time to see the simple truth,as you say neither man or woman, the source of both!
Ohh, somebodies gettin schooled tonite!!!
***stamps outta room, intent on knocking heads***
Seriously, thanks for taking the time out to reply to my post,I feel dumb now,the answer was infront of me,I just didnt tek the time to see it...Suppose its the human condition...

From my understanding God is a spirit and spirits are asexual. Therefore God is neither male or female. I believe that when the bible talks God creating us in his image and likeness, it may have been talking about the fact that we are spiritual beings (who just so happen to be inhabiting physical bodies). Mankind were the only creatures that God created with a spirit and soul.
Ever conscious of God,Being proud of our heritage, May we with faith and courage aspire, build, advance as one people, one family.
God bless our nation.

By the laws of duality and polarity, which permeate allnature, the divine has to be both male and female, the positive, activating principle and the negative, passive, nurturing principle united in the absolute.
Whenpure energy, spirit, becomes physical matter, of necessity this oneness gives way to duality, male and female, good and evil, with one principle predominating in expression.
Reunion with the absolute oneness, or spiritual perfection, demands the cultivation and evolution of both principles.
Does this mean that those who refuse to get in touch with their feminine side fall short of spiritual perfection?confused3
Will they be condemned to come back as a woman?confused3

Salaam (Peace) to all...
Are there really different "spirits"? Or, is there only ONE GREAT SPIRIT, of which we all are but individual manifestations?

as far as muslim beliefs, Allah is seen as having created the male and female thus He is neither. this is because we believe that the CREATED cannot be called The CREATOR. God is UNIQUE. He has no need to have a sex as He has no need to have sex!! sex is an animal act, God is FAR from animal!
God is called 'He' not because He is 'male' but it is used as a term of respect. Its an 'olde english' type thing. Search for 'ROYAL TERMS' on google for an explanation.
but we believe that the 'personality' of God contains both male and female traits. such as His wrath can be seen as male and His mercy can be seen as feminine. this is just an easy way to describe Him and is not to be taken literally.

On another note, it is no sin to seek answers to the Question...
