Vodun is one!

It is much too complicated for me to go into but this site does an okay job of explaining it. http://members.aol.com/racine125/index1.html

I like the potential this forum offers.niceone.gif

Vodoo is devil worshiping in a different form. They invoke demons. I'm not too sure but i think Voodoo is the main religion in Africa but it is quickly dying.

Me personally my religion defines me as a person in need of God, he is my strength.

I'm more than a colour to God. He's more than a colour to me. ALL ARE WELCOME.

I've heard of some black muslims who believe that all white people are devils.

Peace!

This is jokep people watch TV and get caught up on this notion of Voodoo and devilism.

Well to the Narrow minded and some what brainwashed- i say this- No people were enslaved for over 500 years in the name of any voodoo GOD.

The most wicked and inhumane acts of History were never commited in the name of any African GOD, under any African tradfitional beleif system.

in spite of this people take on religions and scorn African Tradition as Devil Worship, and Demonistic- whilste failing to see the devilism that permeates there own religions- rather odd!

I'm a maroon and it's very African rooted. We haven't got a god as such and it's not something you can convert into...you have to be born as maroon (as in....either of your parents are maroons). I'm not saying that this is the right religion for Africans assuch but it's basically from Slavery times....the run-away Africans inJamaica would hide in the hills and continue their African traditions....I know it's fromWest Africa..but not sure exactly where.

I think Baron.... said something about vodoo. We don't pratice voodoo as such but spirits are involved...lol

Ebony_Goddess:

Vodun not that crap that has much of the Western Black populace spooked is almost indistinguishable from Yourba beliefs. Its just the fact that Vodun (Fon, from Dahomey)was the spirirual catalyst for the Highly successful Haitian Revolution. Whitey couldn't fathom being beaten by Blacks and attributed it to Black Magic. Obeah and other Caribbean practices find their roots in Vodun and Yoruba and other West African systems. If you are a Moroon and you know the names of your Spirits you can easily trace the country of origins. In fact there History of Slavers is pretty thorough so that People from the Islands can pretty much find many ports of departures.

Where did you get that nonsense from? Maybe you would care to enlighten us as to how you have established that 'Voddoo is the main main religion in Africa?'

Before the white man came Africa (first to learn from its great wealth of knowledge, social structures etc. etc, then to rape and pillage) the people had very sound religious practices. Vodoo came about as a result of much of HIS contaminating influences as they (white people) "sought to save African souls" with their so-called 'word of God' - word of the Devil more like.

There are those who feel that the only way to ‘prove their own worth’ is by ‘devaluing the worth of others’. You will often find that a man who is compelled to measure his substance against the substance of another, has little of substance in the first place!

Peace!

All i know that when we were worshiping God according to the our own African Tradition, is when we were strongest in the world. not as a result of any kind of domination or conquest over other people, but simply developing ourselves, building great civilisation.

As soon as we start taking on Other religions, we began to decline, until slavery became our reality- a reality we still have not been able to shake the effect of!

And people call it Devil worship- PLEASE!
