Woman priest to marry lesbian lover

A woman priest and her partner are aiming to become Britain's first legally married lesbian couple.

The Rev Debbie Gaston and partner Elaine Cook are to make history by becoming Britain's first lesbian couple to marry in December /Ext

The Rev Debbie Gaston and Elaine Cook are among three couples set to have same sex weddings in Brighton on December 21.

They will marry a second after midnight on the first day the Civil Partnership Bill legalises same sex weddings.

The Rev Gaston, 46, of the Metropolitan Community Church, and Elaine, 53, have been together for 16 years and they have two children.

She said: "As a vicar I obviously believe whole-heartedly in the concept of marriage and I have married more than 30 couples myself.

"Elaine and I have waited many years to be able to make this kind of commitment to each other and we both see the Civil Partnership Bill as a huge step in the right direction for equality.

"However, we are only part way there. Until I can have a legal ceremony in the eyes of God I will not feel completely fulfilled."

They will marry in a joint ceremony with two other gay couples - Gino Meriano and his partner Mike Ullett; and Roger Lewis, a Sussex Police employee and partner Keith Willmott-Goodall.

on a personal and non religious level i think they shud be allowed to do wat they want.....

but seeing datthey're christians/vicars then that contradicts the bible innit? confused3

@the student i read this article before and what makes it worst is that she is a clergywoman. so i am assuming she is meant to follow a more orthodox christianity. as clergy people are not found in all denominations.

she is a hypocrite. the Bible clearly states that homosexuality is wrong in the eyes of the Lord. her sentence when she said she wants it to be legal in the eyes of God will never happen. God wont change His mind.

i feel sorry for the people who attend her church. for they must be recieving the wrong doctrine

the really sad thing is that this is not the first time something like this has happened. nearly every week you can read about another gay priest/vicar/pastor. when will it end?

thats why i know for a fact the smokescreen people are using just aint washing with me. what makes it even worst is it this is the only time western media will put forth religion. they promote the hypocrites whilst telling everyone else they are brainwashed. its the sign of times for sure

Leviticus 18:22 (KJV): "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind it is abomination."

Homosexuality is also referred to as the sin of sodomy. This reference comes from an account in the Bible of two exceedingly wicked cities, Sodom and Gomorrah, which the Lord destroyed. Sodom was known for its rampant homosexuality and unrestrained sexual lust, as well as other sins such as arrogance, haughtiness, and disregard for the poor. When the Lord sent angels to warn Lot who lived in the city that it was about to be destroyed, the men of the city actually wanted to rape the angels! Genesis 13:13: "But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly."

Leviticus 20:13: "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

ya see its discussed in both old and new testaments.

what does the koran say. i am sure the doctrine here would be similar. the fact though remains that there are kids growing up being lied to. homosexuality gay marriage etc is being glamourised and the Word of God is not being taken seriously.

i agree, this is very wrong and is a very bad transgression against GOD, for a clergy woman to do this, but that doenst make CHRIST WRONG becuz of what they do, thats them, HE gave them the right way, if they chose to pervert it, fine then on that day HE will deal with them according to HIS judgement,

and why post this my muslim friend? it couldnt be becuz of them being gay, you see that all the time, but could it be that one of them is a priest of CHRISTIANITY?
