I was watching the latest episode of Star Wars at the movies the other day and I noticed that one of the characters used the word "blessed" in describing another. I am somewhat a big-fan and I'm almost sure that word has never been used in any of the other episodes(correct me if I'm wrong).

I know and understand that George Lucus adopts many different philosophies andteachings from world religions throughout his movies and remains somewhat vague in his interviews as to what he, himself believes in or practices for religion,but when I heard the word "blessed" used, I began to suspect that he is of Christian faith and then I thought further; 'Is the word "blessed" actually of Christian faith or is it a universal term used in any faith?'

I would think it is a Universal term, or concept. Remember, it is not the "word" that is important, as much as it is the IDEA that it conveys. Different words could be used to convey the same idea.

In any event, from the Islamic perspective, the word "blessed" appears at least 28 times in the Maulana Muhammad Ali Translation of the Holy Qur'an. Below is a link to similar occurences in other translations:
