A sufi saint set out on a pilgrimage to Mecca! At the outskirts of the city he lay by the road, exhaused from his journey. He had barely fallen asleep when he brusquely awakended by an irate pilgrim. "This is the time when all belivers bow their heads towards Mecca and you have your feet pointing towards the holy shrine. What sort of Muslim are you?"

The sufi did not move; he merely opened his eyes and said, "Brother, would you do me the favour of placing my feet where they won't be pointing to the Lord?"

Editors note: The following article is taken from the September 1985 AFRICA EVENTS magazine, and is concerning Al Hajj Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse

La ilaha Illa-Llah, Mashaa Allah, La Quwwata illa Billah. [/i][/b]I first knew of Al Hajj al-Allama Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse through a magazine, Al Arab, [/i]which used to be published in Karachi under the able editorship of an Egyptian.

Used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.

"In fact, as late as the late 1800's no Whiteman was allowed in MECCA,when the British spy, Sir Richard Burton was the first western devil to see the Kaaba. He spoke Arabic and had brown eyes (no one with blue eyes couldnot come near) and was able to see and measure the Kaaba at Mecca, he was a Freemason/Sufi."
words of Brother Ahmed El-Shabazz

...he opened covertly at Karachi several shops with the object, however, not of making profit, but of obtaining intimate knowledge of the people and their secret customs. Then he put on long hair and a venerable beard, stained his limbs with henna, and called himself Abdullah of Bushire, a half-Arab. In this disguise,...

16. “Would you a Sufi be?

Upon his return to Sind, Burton at first applied himself sedulously to Sindi, and then, having conceived the idea of visiting Mecca, studied Moslem divinity, learnt much of the Koran by heart and made himself a “proficient at prayer....

...it is not surprising that he drifted into Sufism...

...Burton became a Master Sufi, and all his life he sympathised with, and to some extent practised Sufism....

The Life of Sir Richard Burton

http://etext.library.adelaide.edu.au/b/burton/richard/b97zw/

Sir Richard Burton, 1821-1890.
Personal narrative of a pilgrimage to El-Medinah and Meccah.
London: Longman, Brown, Green and Longmans, 1855.
3 vols.

According to Sir Richard Burton, "Sufi-ism [was] the Eastern parent of Freemasonry." (See, F. Hitchman, Burton, Volume 1, p. 286) The possibility that Burton was correct is examined in detail by Idries Shah in his book entitled The Sufis, beginning on page 205.[/b]
