According to the Bible...

It's the VICTIM who must make restitutions!

"But if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn and offer him the other; and if anyone would take your coat, give him your cloak as well; and if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles." (Matthew 5:39)

So if someone wrongs you, you must not only forgive them but allow them to takefurther advantage.

Am I my brother\'s keeper?
YES I AM

UNDERSTANDING DEEP BIBICAL TRUTH.

The scriptures is loaded down with idioms, if the believers do not understand the Idioms use in scriptures they will never understand the scriptures.
For example, what does it mean to turn the other cheek?.

One cannot understand what it mean to turning the other cheek until he she understand the Idioms that use in the Bible. The Idioms are Eastern in nature, and are not readily known by people of other hemisphere.

id·i·om
(¹d"¶-…m) n. 1. A speech form or an expression of a given language that is peculiar to itself grammatically or cannot be understood from the individual meanings of its elements, as in keep tabs on. 2. The specific grammatical, syntactic, and structural character of a given language. 3. Regional speech or dialect. 4.a. A specialized vocabulary used by a group of people; jargon: legal idiom. b. A style or manner of expression peculiar to a given people: "Also important is the uneasiness I've always felt at cutting myself off from my idiom, the American habits of speech and jest and reaction, all of them entirely different from the local variety" (S.J. Perelman). 5. A style of artistic expression characteristic of a particular individual, school, period, or medium: the idiom of the French impressionists; the punk rock idiom. [Late Latin idi½ma, idi½mat-, from Greek, from idiousthai, to make one's own, from idios, own, personal, private. See s(w)e- below.]

"Filled with the spirit" " Spirit Be in you" Spirit be upon you"" Walk in the spirit" "Live in the spirit"" The Spirit fall upon them" "You are the temple of the Spirit" "You are the body of Christ"" Baptize in the spirit" All these are Idioms and does not mean literally what it says.

BASIC ENGLISH IDIOMS.

Let us look at a few English idioms, "The man jump ship" This does not mean that the person jump off a ship. It mean that the person change his or her route of action quickly. "I hear it right from the horse mouth" This does not mean that a horse has spoken but it mean that the person hear it from a very good source. "He went over board" This does not mean that the person fall off a ship. It mean the person over did himself or herself or says too much. "He made her crawl up the wall" "He went through the roof" The horse already gone through the gate "He hears it right from the horse mouth" This does not mean that a horse has spoken, but it mean that the person hears it from a good source. All these are idioms and do not mean literally what it says.

Matthew 5:39 But I say unto you, that ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

"Turn the other cheek is an Eastern Idioms. It mean to do every thing in your power to avoid hostilities between you and your neighbors even to the point of taking the wrong if that will bring about the peace. And does not literally mean that if somebody is raping your wife you must stand there looking and do nothing about it. Some bullies beating you up on the street you must bend over, this is not what it is talking about. 1 Cor. 6:7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? "Turning the other cheek" Mean to take the wrong even though you are not the one at fault. banana.gif

USE YOUR HEAD AND UNDERSTND WHAT YOU READ.

1 Cor. 6:7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? “Turning the other cheek Mean to take the wrong even though you are not the one at fault. People who preach that this is to be taking literally are only doing it from mouth talk and does not believe it themselves. Our Lord could never meant it literally because it violate our self-preservation instincts. Eating food is a part of your self preservation instincts, if there is a bible passage told you and I not to eat, It could not meant it literally, or if it meant it literally it is only talking about fasting for a period of time, because not eating would violate our self-preservation instincts. There are five main instincts that God endue all human beings, the animals’ kingdom and insect kingdom, to insure their survival. And, any scriptures are teaching that seem to go against any of those instincts are not to be taking literally.
