"Stolen Legacy" by Dr. George G.M. James
Know that salvation existed long before the Vatican in Rome, Italy shot off it first man made 'canon'.
At one point in history the ancient religion of Egypt enjoyedworldwide prominence. The expanse of its empire reached from the "Far East" to "Brittany" to "Northern Asia". Strangely, its basic principles did not reach the shores of Greece until after Alexander (the so-Called Great) reached Egypt. Soon after hisrape and pillage--Greece sprang up as an pseudo-intellectual giant albeit a slew of cavalier changes here and there. Further, when the Roman Empire came into power, they took close notes while incorporating the ideals and concepts that Greece had "originally" plagiarized from Egypt.
Hence, conversely and contrary to conventional wisdom, Philosophy--namely, Religion is the birth child of Egypt withit's Priests and Hierophants as caregivers--not Greece!
i. Sensuert I claimed a great part of Europe in his conquests, about 1900/BCE.
ii. Akhenaton (i.e. Ikhnaton) claimed Western Asia, Syria and Palestine, about 1500/BCE.
iii. Tuthomosis III claimed Nubia to Northern Asia.

"Summum Bonomo" was the well-tuned student inthe ancient theory of Egyptiansalvation--or more plainly "The Supreme Good in Man".
The attainment or transformation of man into a Godlike status (i.e. from that of a lower animal nature to that of a higher divine level) was accomplished via the following points of interest:
Wisdom
a. controlling your own thoughts
b. controllingyour own actions
Fortitude
c. maintainingdevotion of purpose
d.sustaining faith in the teacher to teach truth
e. sustaining faith in self to assimilate the truth
f.sustaining faith in self to wield the truth
Justice
e. remain free ofresentment underpersecution
f.remain free ofresentmentunderwrong-doing
Temperament
g.cultivate/distinguishbetween right and wrong
h.cultivate/distinguishbetween thereal &unreal
The process of purification involved "merging" the mind (i.e. study of philosophy: religion) "with" the body (i.e. use of esoteric principles) The baptism of water was followed by the baptism of fire. Theentire processprepared theinitiate to graduateinto a harmony withGOD,Nature and Man.
In addition, it was the soulresponsibility of the graduate to work out his own "salvation", with out a mediator.
This last point is important since it vastly differs from the Christian approach of "divine" interventionby a Romanized Christ.
The Egyptian knowledge of:
1. transmigration of the soul
2. the immortality of the soul
3. the body as the tomb of the soul
...inspired the process of embalming the body after death. A technique widely used in "current" times.

So we shouldn't feel resentment toward our oppressors?... Are you sure that's not the beginning of population control?

Resentment is negative and blocks thecreative process to step around that deterrent "object of resistence" and move forward.
This analogy falls in line with #2/Ausar: At "onement" -- the idea that no one is against you because we are all one...!

Isn't that a bit idealistic?
No one is against me but its obvious we're oppressed. If I don't resent the oppressors I can't fight them off. EG; I'm not raising my children in England because of my experience in the education system.
If none of us showed resentment at the way were we've been treated we'd still be reciving the abuse of the 1800s.
Can see how it'd work, I guess resentment leads to a blockage in thought but in some cases its nessary, surely?

Maybe for the example which you speak, Rebel-Lion, dissension may be the better word.
I still think that the average of my people still don't see the proper width and heightof the bigger picture. As there are objects of resistance against us, we are all still not in complete accord with the higher frequencies of thought and existence. If more of us did, more of my people would understand why we have been fighting the good fight and achieving relatively little long-term, permanent progress.
After seeking and attaining higher levels of spirituality, that is when more people will understand better of what is exactly going on. That is when the objects of resistance won't be the objects of limitation that they were created to be; that will be the day that true and real (permanent) progress will be seen of our own. It will happen.

Self realization.
I see your point.

Self-realization, self-actualization, both are built upon the understanding of the true (permanent) self and seeing the limitless possibilities of knowing (self); looking inside and outside; up, down and around instead of only dealing with the outside, in and only down at a low viewing point. Without the proper Spiritual aspects of that process, the whole process is superficial....even the progress of the process would be superficial and not on a deeper level as it really should be.

I find that the truth sticks, faulse 'self knowledge' dosen't and needs constant maintainance.
That constant maintainance would be a problem with applying the laws of Maat. If its done and needs maintaining it won't work... prehaps such a level has to be achived rather than applied otherwise it'll fall into that superficial bracket you mentioned.
'Ihave achived the laws of Maat' -Rather than, 'I have applied the laws of Maat'.
Achivement ispermanent application isn't,To achivebeing a constant.
More for the Laws of Maat thread but its the Laws of MaatthatGeorge GM James is detailing I guess.

What I like to analyze is how any described laws actuallybenefit everyonein the overall picture. Of course various laws have personal benefits, but do the laws balance that which has been imbalanced; justice?

There is acommon thread of truth that runs through many different "religions", but what I have observed is the lack of divine justice. I don't think that is a coincidence, because if there is only one truepath, but many roads to that path, then there must be a variable not satisfied by the other illusionary paths mirroring the one true path, which would automatically implement the divine balance (and order)of justice, a real result that is peaceable.

Salvation is within you, not a third person.
