I am giving up Lent. For good!
Respect
There are those who feel that the only way to ‘prove their own worth’ is by ‘devaluing the worth of others’. You will often find that a man who is compelled to measure his substance against the substance of another, has little of substance in the first place!

How come christians don't fast like they're meant to but just take the easy option of "giving up chocolate" or something? where's the dedication or devotion in that?
Moses, Elijah and Jesus didn't give up chocolate for forty days...

Christians are lazy, theycan't be bothered with half the bible.
Black Lion is... Agu Bu Oji in Igbo, Simba nyeusi in Swahili, the name of a hospital in Addis Adaba the capital of Ethiopia.

LOL
Personally I think somethings should be observed and others less observed, fasting for 40 days to emulate another is not one of them and shouldn't be litterally observed imo.
Considering fasting was used to heighten spiritual awareness back in the day, just like rhythmic dancing in some cultures can do and the use of ayahuasca in others can do also, back on point..... there are more immediate known ways of heightening ones self without fasting but a ritualistic acknowledgement to what went on before is quiet alright, just becasue a brother suffered doesn't mean you have to also.
Since I was annointed and Christian(annointed) in my own way I do observe somethings like no meat on fridays.

(Dont get me wrong..... the OT is history only imo, I'll never follow)
Lent is also for abstinence, to abstaine from something, not suffer.
Lady Day may I suggest upping the ante a little, how about a blanket ban on fast/junk food & confectionaries, I've ate my last snickers and 2 packets of crips earlier and that's my lot until easter and maybe further.
The world's full of them..... and you know it!

Isn't the whole point of fasting for a part of the day during lent,to be in touch with those that are less fortunate, having an understanding of what it is trulylike to be without food and water so there is more empathy to others situation, and also heightening your spirituality in the process etc etc.
Is there not more reason TO fast rather than giving up something?

Ciggies and worrying.
God determines who walks into your life...It's up to you who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go. May God bless all of you and your life be full of Peace, Prosperity, Love and Abundance. Amen

well i would but i my weakness is chocolate so i figure i would use that. i did well today because all around me is confectionary machines
@all i am only doing this as a challenge. im still growing spiritually and know that if ever i was called to fast it would be something more than just leaving junk behind

Ladyday - interesting. There's a theory suggesting anything you do for 30 days straight becomes habit...which I always thought applied to anything you did not do as well...but maybe not
