Bismillaah ir Rahmaan ir Rahiim. As salaam 'alaikum All, Concerning The Gospel of Barnabas; There are not virtually, any True Muslims / Believers who would deny The Prophet Muhammad [S.A.A.W.] the title "Anointed," "Messiah," of Allaah; The Most High, The Wise, - even though it is not explicitly stated in AL-Qur'an regarding The Prophet Muhammad [S.A.A.W.: Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam]; May the Blessings and Peace of Allaah be upon Him. But there would be no need to mention it again, as it is in the gospel under review -- The Gospel of Barnabas.

Although a search of the six books of Ahadiith, for the words 'Messiah,' 'Christ,' did not present any new evidence to support Prophet Muhammad [S.A.A.W.] as 'Messiah' as ascribed in Chapter 97 of this gospel; Some of the statements made in The Gospel of Barnabas regarding Prophet Muhammad, [Alaihissalatu Wassalam; On Him are the Blessings and the Peace of GOD] while they are not direct quotes recorded in The Holy Qur'an, are agreeable and are acceptable as, concerning AL-Qur'an. There are other statements in Chapter 42 which 'seem' to be discrepant; however concerning them Prophet 'Isa [Jesus, PBUH] stated the following:

"Truly I say to you, that every prophet when he is come has borne to one nation only the mark of the mercy of God. And so their words were not extended save to that people to which they were sent. But the Messenger of God, when he shall come, God shall give to him as it were the seal of his hand, insomuch that he shall carry salvation and mercy to all the nations of the world that shall receive his doctrine. He shall come with power upon the ungodly, and shall destroy idolatry, insomuch that he shall make Satan confounded; for so promised God to Abraham, saying: "Behold, in your seed I will bless all the tribes of the earth; and as you have broken in pieces the idols, O Abraham;, even so shall your seed do." The Gospel Of Barnabas Chapter 42

"Faith is a seal whereby God seals his elect: which seal he gave to his Messenger, at whose hands every one that is elect has received the faith. For even as God is one, so is the faith one." The Gospel Of Barnabas Chapter 90

033.040 Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the Messenger of Allah, and the Seal of the Prophets: and Allah has full knowledge of all things. Al-Qur'an, 033.040 (Al-Ahzab [The Clans, the Coalition, the Combined Forces]) A. Yusuf Ali, translation.

The Holy Qur'an in 3:45; 9:31, and others, acknowledges that Prophet 'Isa [PBUH] is the Messiah "Anointed," of Allaah; The Strong, The Protecting Friend, The Praiseworthy.

However, some commentary / commentators state that the Jew's were expecting two or three Messiah's - an acknowledgment of another Messiah, who was to be expected, - and He, 'Isa [Jesus, PBUH] was stating that He PBUH, is not that Messiah. We may conclude that there is Qur'anic, support for this in 61:6. Any confusion regarding this issue points to the hands of the EVIL one, the Shaytaan [the Satan].

Chapter 19 The Holy Qur'an does not mention Judas by name while mentioning the disciples of Prophet 'Isa [PBUH] on a few occasions: [3:52; 5:111-112; 61:14]. The Six Books of Ahadiith make no mention of Judas [Iscariot]. Muslims, already know that The Prophet, Messiah, 'Isa [Jesus, PBUH] was neither killed nor crucified. That the history of the death / execution, of someone else was substituted for that of The Prophet, Messiah 'Isa [PBUH], Son of Mariam, In the New Testament Bible is sensible. See sections one to three of the following discourse: The Historical Jesus and Mythical Christ ~ beyond section three is an occult reading which may prove difficult to comprehend.

Chapter 43 "James answered: "O master, tell us in whom this promise was made; for the Jews say "in Isaac," and the Ishmaelites say "in Ishmael;." Jesus answered: David, whose son was he, and of what lineage?" James answered: "Of Isaac; for Isaac was father of Jacob, and Jacob was father of Judah, of whose lineage is David." Then Jesus said: "And the Messenger of God when he shall come, of what lineage will he be?" The disciples answered: "Of David." Whereupon Jesus said: "You deceive yourselves; for David in spirit calls him lord, saying thus: God said to my lord, sit you on my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool. God shall send forth your rod which shall have lordship in the midst of your enemies. If the Messenger of God whom you call Messiah were son of David, how should David call him lord? Believe me, for truly I say to you, that the promise was made in Ishmael, not in Isaac.""

15 If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:
16 Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn:
17 But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his. Deuteronomy 21:15-17

Bismillaah ir Rahmaan ir Rahiim. Wa 'alaikum assalaam, Sephiroth.

Please explain how these verses will help. What did you have in mind?

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. Mark 16.

19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward forever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
20 And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. Matthew 21.

Bismillaah ir Rahmaan ir Rahiim. As salaamu 'alaikum. A Christain commentator, has launched an attack, against The Gospel Of Barnabas. Yet, has he begun with error's that he has carried throughout the exposition, which appears to serve no practical purpose. The sites commentary, on this gospel is located here: Barnabas

< "Historical Setting" >

1.
Quote:
"The mention of casks of wood or barrels washed and refilled with wine (GB 152). In the days of Jesus skins were used for wine. Casks or barrels of wood were unknown in ancient Palestine."
Reply: >>
It isn't about casks of wood. This chapter is regarded with suspicion. It is not supported in The Holy Qur'an. The story concerns Roman soldiers, who confront Prophet 'Issa [Jesus, PBUH], and He PBUH, teaches them concerning Spiritual eyesight, which is the fear and faith of THE ONE AND ONLY GOD, Allah; whom can be seen everywhere and in everything.

Tampering, is most obvious wherein it is stated ''If they (your gods) are omnipotent as ye say, pardon me, for I will worship them,'' in fact accusing the Prophet 'Issa PBUH, of being a polythiest [Mushrik (Ar.)]; one who ascribes partners to Allah, The One And Only GOD. And again in the last paragraph regarding violence towards the soldiers. See Chapters 63, 94, re: vengeance.

2.
Quote:
"The Virgin’ (GB 219) as a title was not given to the mother of Jesus before 300AD."
Reply: >>
What this exposition in fact does is cause some confusion. It is clear that this gospel by Barnabas, was extant between the first and third centuries C.E. Additionally, The Old Testament has numerous instances of the word "virgin" and the following is one such example: >>
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Luke 1:27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

3.
Quote:
"Expressions (words and phrases) well known in Italy from the Italian poet Dante who lived 1265-1321 are scattered throughout the book (GB 23, 59, 60, 78, 217)."
Reply: >>
What words and phrases? Again, The Gospel of Barnabas was extant between the first and third centuries C.E. The writer(s) are suggesting that Barnabas copied from a book produced in the twelfth century.

4.
Quote:
"Adam and Eve were commanded by God to do penance (GB 41), a practice of the Middle Ages, not of New Testament times."
Reply: >>
Matthew 3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Mark 6:12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

To repent and do penitence, is to feel sorrow, regret, for committing sin, and to commit oneself to doing what is contrary of the sin. To penalize the hated flesh, which is weak. Repentance / penitence, is thousands of years old. See chapters 100-102; 113, 122-126, etc..

The word 'penance' occurs a few times in this gospel, - and one defined entry of the word includes a sacramental rite, that is practiced in some churches. They may seem to to be interchangeable, at a glance, but for the Christian religious, rite.

Also, it is not made clear what is meant by "not of New Testament times." Is this referring to the era of the councils Nicea, in the third and fourth centuries? And, not that it is terribly important in this instance, but specifically, what periods of the Middle Ages, are being quoted?

5.
Quote:
"Reference to court procedure of the Middle Ages is given where a prisoner is questioned by a magistrate while a notary records the evidence (GB 121)."

Reply: >>
Actually, what can easily be made reference to here is the notarization of the "supposed" trial and execution of The Prophet 'Issa [Jesus, PBUH]. Other wise, how did the related transcription, become a part of the New Testament. Such fully notarized transcriptions, appear oddly enough in "The Forbidden Books Of The Original N.T. Bible" (re: The Gospel Of Nicodemus).

6.
Quote:
"Reference is also made to a duel between two rival lovers which reminds one of the age of chivalry In Medieval Europe (GB 99)."
Reply: >>
There is distinct error in seeing this explanation, as a duel between lovers. No one, can stand in opposition to the standards set by THE ONE AND ONLY GOD, Allah, as it is futile to attempt such. Re-read the chapter and others of like kind.

7.
Quote:
"Among the clearest of all European traces are those of feudalism. The Gospel of Barnabas represents Mary, Martha and Lazarus as feudal lords of whole villages(GB 194, 122)."
Reply: >>
Nothing was found in the quoted chapters, that can be considered akin to 9th century feudalist political organizing. The writer, should explain further.

8.
Quote:
"The picturesque description of the summer season in the fields and valleys (GB 169) is much more suggestive of beautiful Italy than of Palestine in summer when the fields are utterly burnt dry."

Reply: >>
Maybe someone will add some details about Palestine, in the Summer-time, past and present, as it will be welcomed. But to be sure this passage is not speaking of Palestine, but "Paradise," and the "World" in general. "Behold, then, how beautiful is the world in summer-time, when all things bear fruit! The very peasant, intoxicated with gladness by reason of the harvest that is come, makes the valleys and mountains resound with his singing, for that he loves his labours supremely. Now lift up even so your heart to paradise, where all things are fruitful with fruits proportionate to him who has cultivated it." Chapter 169

Perhaps Palestine lost most of its trees, foliage, etcetera, due to building of ancient times. It couldn't look the same today, as it did then.

9.
Quote:
"Asceticism and other traces of Medieval society, customs, times and beliefs appear throughout the book, e.g. (GB 150) taking the habit of a monk-like Pharisee and dwelling in seclusion for 30(?) years."
Reply: >>
Although history isn't too clear on this matter, this [seclusion] is thought to be due to the persecution/slaying of 10,000 [Prophets], by Jezebel, of the original Pharisee's.

Also, - The Holy Book Of wisdom Of THE ONE GOD, ALONE, - The Holy Qur'an, speaks of monasticism or monkery, of more than 1400 year's past:

57:27. Then, in their wake, We followed them up with (others of) Our messengers: We sent after them Jesus the son of Mary, and bestowed on him the Gospel; and We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him Compassion and Mercy. But the Monasticism which they invented for themselves, We did not prescribe for them: (We commanded) only the seeking for the Good Pleasure of Allah; but that they did not foster as they should have done. Yet We bestowed, on those among them who believed, their (due) reward, but many of them are rebellious transgressors. Yusuf Ali's Quran Translation

Bismillaah ir Rahmaan ir Rahiim. As salaamu 'alaikum. The exposition continues:

quote:
< "Substance" >

quote:
< "Historical Errors" >

1.
Quote:
"When Jesus was born ‘Pilate was governor in the priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas’ (GB 3). These men did not come to office until later - Annas 6 AD, Caiaphas 8 AD, Pilate 26 AD."
Reply: >>
Tampering, nothing more! The New Testament, mentions all of these persons at one time or another, in reference to the "supposed" trial and execution of The Prophet Jesus [PBUH], which amounts to nonsense. For instance see John 18:12-14, 29-38.

Satan and his hordes, left these earlier chapters, and some later chapters in quite an untidy, disordered state. Some parts of this story are in the New Testament (Luke 2). Except for the actual child brith, the story is not commented upon [recorded], in AL-Qur'an. According to history Herod 'the great' had at least three son's. One of his son's, Herod antipas, ruled, Galilee and Peræa, during the ministry of Prophet Jesus [PBUH]. According to The Gospel Of Barnabas, Prophet Jesus PBUH was born when Herod 'the great' was still ruling. The time recorded for the death of Herod 'the great,' is not necessarily the same time that Prophet, Messiah Jesus PBUH, was born. In Chapter 9, we learn that Prophet 'Issa, PBUH, was seven years of age at the time of transition of Herod the great, recorded as occurring in 4 B.C.(E.), Jesus, then, being born about 11 B.C.(E.); Before Common (Era). Prophet 'Issa's, [Jesus', PBUH], disputing with the doctors of the law, would have taken place about 2 AD; 'Issa [Jesus, PBUH] having reached the age of twelve (12) years.

Additionally, Annas and Caiaphas, are recorded, as appearing together in Luke 3:2 and Acts 4:6.

2.
Quote:
"...in the time of Elijah, friend and prophet of God, there were twelve mountains inhabited by seventeen thousand Pharisees..,’ (GB 145). There were no Pharisees in the days of Elijah. History first knows about Pharisees seven centuries later in the period between 135-104 BC."
Reply: >>
Chapter 144 states: "Truly I say to you," said Jesus, "all the saints and prophets of God have been Pharisees..."
Chapter 151 states: "Know you what is the true Pharisee? He is the oil of human nature. For even as oil rests at the top of every liquor, so the goodness of the true Pharisee rests at the top of all human goodness. He is a living book, which God gives to the world; for everything that he says and does is according to the Law of God. Wherefore, who does as he does observes the Law of God. The true Pharisee is salt that suffers not human flesh to be putrefied by sin; for every one who sees him is brought to repentance. He is a light that lightens the pilgrims' way, for every one that considers his poverty with his penitence perceives that in this world we ought not to shut up our heart."

3.
Quote:
"The Gospel of Barnabas erroneously quotes Jesus as saying that the Year of Jubilee came every 100 years (GB 82, 83). From the time of Moses (Levlticus 25: 11 ) the Year of Jubilee came every 50 years. There was only one time in history that the festival was known to have fallen in 100 year cycles. That was when Pope Boniface VIII (about 1300 AD) announced that it should be celebrated every 100 years. Pope Clement VI (1343 AD) rescinded Boniface’s order and returned the celebration to every 50 years as it had always been. The Gospel of Barnabas was written, therefore, sometime after Pope Boniface 1300 AD for certain, not during the 1st century."
Reply: >>
Again, if this is not tampering, then it could be a copyist's error. But, the point is: The woman said: "O Lord, perhaps you are the Messiah." Jesus answered: "I am indeed sent to the House of Israel as a prophet of salvation; but after me shall come the Messiah, sent of God to all the world; for whom God has made the world. And then through all the world will God be worshipped, and mercy received, insomuch that the year of jubilee, which now comes every hundred years, shall by the Messiah be reduced to every year in every place."

The Jubilee -Year is said to be an extention of The Sabbatical Year or at the end of seven Sabbatical Years (forty-nine years) there is a Jubilee year. It is also being suggested that the present system, grew out of necessity. Jubilee Year (also included is a Christian Jubilee).

4.
Quote:
"The Gospel of Barnabas records (GB 92) that Jesus and his disciples kept ‘the 40 days’ at Mt. Sinai. The context clearly shows that this refers to the period of Lent before Easter. The Church meditates at this time on the suffering of Christ and his resurrection, which was obviously unknown when Christ was still alive. And it is most unlikely that Jesus and his disciples would have gone some 450 KM away to observe a fast of 40 days."
Reply: >>
This would of course presuppose the crucifixion/execution, of Christ Jesus PBUH. See The Bounteous Qur’aan 4:157. What you are saying then is, that, there is no record of Prophet Jesus PBUH, and His disciples having traveled that distance.

5.
Quote:
"The Gospel of Barnabas (GB 80) has the Prophet Daniel only two years old when taken captive by Nebuchadnezzar. Since he interpreted the king’s dream In the 2nd year of the king’s reign (Daniel 2: 1), this would make Daniel only 3 or at the most 4 years old at the time. This is an impossibility, for the king immediately made Daniel ruler over the entire province of Babylon. Daniel was then still a young man, but not that young."
Reply: >>
"Daniel as a child, with Ananias, Azarias, and Misael, were taken captive by Nebuchadnezzar in such wise that they were but two years old when they were taken;" The Gospel Of Barnabas

Daniel 1:6 "Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:"

Daniel 1:17 "As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams."

Daniel 1:19 "And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king."

Daniel 1:21 "And Daniel continued [even] unto the first year of king Cyrus."

Obviously, The Old Testament, and The Gospel Of Barnabas are not considered proof, by some.

6.
Quote:
"It was Darius who committed the Prophet Daniel to the lions’ den, not Cyrus as The Gospel of Barnabas (GB 50) states. Jesus as prophet would have been accurate in quoting from Daniel 6.
Reply:>>
Well, they do not agree. This may be a misquote as a typo, copyist's error. The point is, which is correct?

7.
Quote:
"The Gospel of Barnabas (GB 54) has Jesus saying: ‘For he who would get in change a piece of gold must have sixty mites.’ The Italian version of the book divides the golden ‘denarius’ into 60 ‘minuti’. These coins were actually of Spanish origin during the Visigothic Period and betray a Spanish background to the manuscript.
Reply: >>
"Mystically," the scenario of the "mite" is a reference to the overwhelming majority who chose to ignore any thoughts / inclinations concerning becoming a candidate for the "anointing," ''initiation,'' regarding The Christ, - The Logos - whose seed we all are.

However, Ancient Rome used gold coins. Caesar's inscription is found on such a coin, minted about 44 AD.

Chapters

To be continued inshaa'Allah.

Bismillaah ir Rahmaan ir Rahiim. As salaamu 'alaikum; to continue....

quote:
< "Geographical Errors" >

1.
Quote:
"Jesus traveled to Nazareth by ship (GB 20). This cannot be, for Nazareth is on a hill in Galilee at 2000 ft. elevation and half a day’s march from the sea."

Reply: >>
According to history, the city of "Nazareth" did not exist in the day's of Prophet Jesus' mission. It does not appear in the Old Testament, or Talmud. There is such a city, today however. The claim is made that it was a very small town, of two hundred people, or less.

2.
Quote:
"The next section (GB 21) confirms the confusion where it is stated that Jesus went up to Capernaum (from Nazareth). Of course it is just the reverse. He would have landed at Capernaum (the seaport), gone up to Nazareth and then down again to Capernaum."

Reply: >>
Inconsequential point. See reply to '1' above. Capernaum, in fact can be seen in a similar light. It too, is not found in the Old Testament, and might be a translator or copyist's gloss over. It's difficult to discern what the problem was, or is. It might be tampering. However, both of these cities are mapped, today.

3.
Quote:
"The mistake is further compounded, for the incident which is reported to have taken place in Capernaum in fact occurred on the other side of the lake (Sea of Galilee) in the region of Gerasenes (Mark 5: 1)."

Reply: >>
This would of course be dependent upon whose version of the story would seem most plausible.

4.
Quote:
"The same mistake is made again when Jesus comes to Nazareth (GB 143), gives a long uninterrupted discourse (GB 144-151 ) and then embarks on a ship (GB 151) and arrives (by ship?) at Jerusalem (GB 152), also far inland."

Reply: >>
Chapter 152, does not discribe how Prophet 'Issa [Jesus, PBUH] arrived at Jerusalem. It only notes that He [PBUH], 'came to Jerusalem.'

5.
Quote:
"The Prophet Jonah (GB 63) mistakenly flees and sails to Tarsus (In present-day Turkey) instead of to Tarshish (present-day Spain) as in Jonah 1: 3."

Reply: >>
The 'mistake' could be nothing more than a typo or copyist's error. There is a variation of the spelling as "Tartessus" which was an ancient kingdom, on the SW Iberian peninsula according to Encarta Encyclopedia.
The story of Jonah [PBUH], is also found in AL-Qur'an, 037.139-148.

6.
Quote:
"Then the fish that swallowed Jonah cast him out near Nineveh (GB 63). It is well founded that Nineveh was the capital of the Assyrian Empire and was built on the eastern bank of the Tigris River, not on the Mediterranean coast."

Reply: >>
Probably a translators gloss over. It's in present day (northen) Iraq, to be sure. Thanks, for the correct geography.

Quote:
"Whereupon, as the food (apple?) was going down, he (Adam) remembered the words of God wherefore, wishing to stop the food, he put his hand into his throat, where every man has the mark’ (GB 40). Putting a hand to the throat will not stop the passage of swallowed food. Also, what mark is this talking about?"

Reply: >>
Of course the story is a parable. We know today, that "the garden" and the "fruits" it is referring to is of "the world," and its "things."

Readers of author James Morgan Pryse, have learned that the 'mark' being referred to, has become a vulgar expression. But it is actually a laryngeal (protrusion) protuberance.

2.
Quote:
"...the planets, that are distant one from another five hundred years’ journey for a man; and the earth in like manner is distant from the first heaven five hundred years’ journey (GB 178) or ‘four thousand and five hundred years’ journey’ (GB 105). These distances are in no way accurate but are rather fanciful conjectures."

Reply: >>
[These seeming discrepancies were considered in a "review" of this gospel, by their respective chapters.] But peruse this verse:

070.004 تَعْرُجُ الْمَلائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ
070.004 The angels and the spirit ascend unto him in a Day the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years:

Al-Qur'an, 070.004 (Al-Maarij [The Ascending Stairways]

These are figures that we may or, may not presently, be experienced with.

Paradise; [Qur'an 2:25, 62, 82; 4:57, 122, 124; 6:127; 7:35, 42, 43, 172; 10:9; 11:23; 12:57; 13:29; 14:23; 36:60 and others].

[The Cipher (number) nine, found in this Chapter, is concerned with a final phase of creation that is macrocosmic, and is relating to the Completion and Perfection even of the heavens, as alluded to in this discourse. The same Cipher, nine, can relate to a microcosmic Spiritual aspect of its character, in its final phase, as Perfection/Completion
/immortality.

The Noble Qur'an, however, explains the creation of the seven heavens, in Suwar(pl.) 67:3 and 71:15,16.]

"God having created a mass of earth, and having left it for twenty-five thousand years without doing aught else; Satan, who was as it were priest and head of the angels...knew that God of that mass of earth was to take one hundred and forty and four thousand signed with the mark of prophecy...’ (GB 35). When has God ever left off caring for the earth? Also, Satan in no way can be considered a priest. Priests seek to reconcile man with God or gods by officiating over ceremonies and sacrifices. Satan in no way seeks to reconcile angels or men to God but seeks to foster rebellion toward God."

Lucifer, was at one time an angel of Light. If he was not a leader/head of the angels, how or, why, then did he have so many following him, - even to planet (h)earth?

4.
Quote:
"Whereupon, in Mizpeh assembled three armies each one of two hundred thousand men that bare sword (GB 91). These were Jewish armies, each believing something different about Jesus and ready for a three-cornered battle where each side would simultaneously take on the other two. But quieted by a word from the heathen governor and the high priest they all simply laid down their arms, embraced one another, saying ‘forgive me, brother’. This story betrays itself as a phenomenal myth and fantasy, the author again resorting to wild exaggerations of facts and numbers in an apparent attempt to create a wondrous impact on his readers. Where did the Jews suddenly find six hundred thousand swords? During the Roman occupation of Palestine no manufacture of military hardware was permitted. If indeed the Jews were 600,000 strong, Pilate would only have been too delighted to see them decimate one another. And rather than fight among themselves, 600,000 armed Jews could with ease have driven the hated Romans right out of Palestine. The whole Roman army in the world at that time numbered only half this figure (Encyclopedia Britannica, 1966 ed. Vol. 19, pp. 527,528)."

Well, you're saying that there is nothing to compare it to. It may be another discrepancy, which must be taken into consideration. But, it is peculiar, that history is silent concerning these events; especially, noting that there were other cities, named Mizpeh.

Quote:
"Jesus intercedes in vain for God to pardon Satan. Then Jesus warns Satan: ‘Thou must know that the angel Michael must needs on the day of judgment strike thee with the sword of God one hundred thousand times and each blow will give thee the pain of ten hells’ (GB 51 57). This punishment is fanciful and meaningless, especially when compared to the actual punishments predicted for Satan in the Bible."

Reply: >>
Fanciful and meaningless? Hardly. Read again, how the Satan, replied to Prophet 'Issa [Jesus, PBUH].

6.
Quote:
"On the day of judgment ‘...the demons and reprobates with Satan shall weep so that more water shall flow from the eyes of one of them than is in the river of Jordon’ (GB 55). Again, this is a fanciful description that does not befit holy scripture."

Reply: >>
Needless to say, that the descriptions in #5 and #6, have the appearance of parables.

7.
Quote:
"On the day of judgment ‘...the hair-shirt shall shine like the sun, and every louse a man shall have borne for love of God shalt be turned into pearl’ (GB 57). Where is mankind commanded or exhorted to bear with lice out of love for God"

Reply: >>
I can only imagine that it and much worst, have happened to many of the people, of THE ONE AND ONLY GOD. The Prophets [PBUT] especially, suffer. The desert sands, the forests, etc., have been known to contain lice.

8.
Quote:
"Because of drought one says: ‘O brother, it is now two months since I have drunk water’ (CB 144,149). This is a physical impossibility."

Reply: >>
This could be a typo, or the suggestion could be taken euphemistically as one not having drunk ones fill of water in such a length of time. Because, there was a drought. But, an impossibility? Surely not. Ask yourself; how did the Prophets survive without food (and water) during their [PBUT] fasts? [re: Chapter 83 of this gospel (forty day's, and forty nights, fast)]

9.
Quote:
"Rome alone hath twenty-eight thousand gods that are seen’ (GB 152). This is no doubt another effort to impress with exaggerated numbers (as well as in GB 21,178,179,199 and elsewhere). Rome had many gods and goddesses in its pantheon, but not 28,000."

Reply: >>
One should not reject the idea of idol worship, - worship by substitution, - wherein a number like 28,000, gods, would not be absurd. And, how many idols are being worshipped in this present day and time? A mere 28,000 gods, would be "a drop, in the bucket," so to speak, - today. [Idolatry: Chapters 23, 32, 33, 38, 43, 72, 118, 144, 159, 212, & others]

To be continued inshaa'Allah.

Bismillaah ir Rahmaan ir Rahiim. As salaamu 'alaikum, this is a reply to the commentator's statement that The Gospel Of Barnabas, contradicts both Bible and Qur'an. This is (in two parts) the final installment of the replies to the commentator.

Quote:
Is The Gospel of Barnabas consistent with the Bible and the Qur’an?

Following are only some of its contradictions of one or of both:
1.
Quote:
Muhammad is referred to as the Messiah (GB 42). To be the Messiah, Muhammad would have to have been a Jew. Both the Bible (John 1:41) and the Qur’an (Al Imran 45; Maida 72) state that Jesus is the Messiah.

Reply: >>
The Christ, or The Messiah, has the same meaning; = The anointed of Allah, The One And Only GOD.

What is odd is the fact that there is a passage in the New Testament, that is similar to the passage in this Chapter (42): "Jesus confessed, and said the truth: "I am not the Messiah." They said: "Are you Elijah or Jeremiah, or any of the ancient prophets?" Jesus answered: "No." Then said they: "Who are you? Say, in order that we may give testimony to those who sent us." Then Jesus said: "I am a voice that cries through all Judea, and cries: "Prepare you the way for the messenger of the Lord," even as it is written in Esaias;."

The only difference in the passages, is that in the New Testament it is The Prophet John PBUH, whom is being questioned. Is this proof of tampering, within these two gospels?

John 1:19-23
19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.
21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that Prophet? And he answered, No.
22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah.

AL-Qur'an, in 3:45, 5:72 and 9:31 states that Prophet 'Issa [PBUH] is the "Messiah
