cogs Biblical Slavery 101 - 07-02-08, 06:59 PM

Except for murder, slavery has got to be one of the most immoral things a person can do. Yet slavery is rampant throughout the Bible in both the Old and New Testaments. The Bible clearly approves of slavery in many passages, and it goes so far as to tell how to obtain slaves, how hard you can beat them, and when you can have sex with the female slaves.

Many Jews and Christians will try to ignore the moral problems of slavery by saying that these slaves were actually servants or indentured servants. Many translations of the Bible use the word "servant", "bondservant", or "manservant" instead of "slave" to make the Bible seem less immoral than it really is. While many slaves may have worked as household servants, that doesn't mean that they were not slaves who were bought, sold, and treated worse than livestock.

Yes, the Egyptians had slaves of which the (Slavs) were the first to be captured and branded by this well-organized system under the rule of Merneptah. However, what the Egyptians did differently from the United Snakes of AmeriKKKa was to compensate their former slaves with land and title by Egpytian Law. That to me is humane, but further explains why blacks here will never-ever be completely liberated---the snakes know the inside details of this hsitorical fact as well as I....!

i don't expect any more from you in your attacks on the bible fine. you will not take the time to study with context in mind and try and disavow it by making it one book. there is a reason it is called the books of the bible and that there are divisions. as smart as you tell us and as much as you preach intellecutal laziness why do you not practice these concepts when it comes to the bible?

the old testament is history, poetry, and prophesy by major and minor prophets. not only does the bible discuss slavery but beastiality, incest, sodomy, adultry, murder, theft and the gamut of no no's which you would be hard pressed to name a land where those practices were not present. there is a story of a desparate act of cannibalism that the jews committed.

your statement that slavery is rampant throughout the bible is an odd one for you to make. the bible does take place mostly in lands that we are native to.

the bible is telling history, if does not try and make the jews seem guiltless nor christians. it simply tells it like it is. the bible never says that man will make perfection here on earth. and it certainly does not condone slavery.

i have heard you make statements against many things that take place in this nation. i have never heard you give the clarion call to rebel or revolt...why?

the harsh treatment of women was not a biblical thing only. yet it was written about and not covered up. but early on in the Christian church it was given that men be the husband of one wife. the bible does not make eve a second class citizen. she was called taken from man's side not rear. she is an extention of man according to the bible. she has a role that man can not operate in fluidly and man's role is best done by him. can men act as women (in all but child birth) and can women do men's role [hell yeah and in some cases better].

but we are in a bad way now simply because men are not being men and doing their roles and women have chosen to forgo their roles and show men that they can do it better [and i will say that their is not an endeavor that women will put their minds to that they can not accomplish unless physical restrictions halt them such as being an all star in the nfl for one]. mentally women are the giants.

but you are bailing out on this one fine and you know it. hate chiristianity if you choose, but use your superior intellect and be fair in your conclusions. i have seen your work and you are thorough when you choose to be...

If folk who do not have anything to say would refrain from saying it, this would be a better world...J.V.McGee
