Default Denominations - 15-02-08, 12:59 PM

Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum and this is my first post.

Denominations seem to be contrary to scripture. In the book of 1 Corinthians 1 chapter, Paul warns against this specifically. It does seem strange that there are so many different denominations and ways of worship. Is not the bible the answer. According to scripture we should all be teaching the same thing. I would love to get your insight on this subject as well. My show link

I whole heartedly agree that denominations is not from God. Division is not in the interest of men except for selfishness or sin. Division within Christianity is not at all scriptual.

The enemy has done a very good job of scattering and watering down the church's effectiveness. And it is the charisma of men rather than of Christ that draws many to the fellowship now aday. And as you said Paul made mention of this error.

Hello Sir,

I just read your post regarding denominations. May I just begin by stating Jesus in His prayer in St John 17 prayed that God will make us one. From this point forward Jesus gave them the command in St Luke 24 that states repentance and remission of sins should be peached in His name to all the world beginning at Jerusalem.

He also said they should tarry in the city of Jerusalem until they were endued with power from on high.

At this point they had two mission: 1. was to preach repentance
2. they had to wait for the infilling of the Holy Ghost.

Thats why on the day of Pentecost Peter stood up with the 11 and said "Repent and be baptised everyone of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. He also said

This promise is unto you (those that heard the message at pentecost)
And your children (spiritual and natural children of those that heard the message at pentecost)
And to those that are afar off (which is us today) even as many as the Lord thay God shall call. (Everybody).

This is where the Church started based on repentance and baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ, so unless you are following this practice then you fall short of the plan of Salvation.

The baptism formula was changed by the catholic church who at the time was in power and thinking they were the rightful heirs to salvation, they changed it and decieved who they could at the time and hence the confusion with so much denominatons. In fact there is only one church.
