By looking @ the Euro2004 thread and the views from all concerned, its clear football is a huge game amongst us people( most obvious statement of all time, bare with me) so anyways I was just wondering what position peeps play/played in their youth and to what levl( primary, seconday/college/local / uni)
I was a left winger/sided midfielder. IKn my ypunger days I was a damien duff type player, get to the byline and cross, real old fashioned. I got picked for 2 out of 3 primary school competeions, played for a local team for a bit but neevr got into secondary team, although I was always asked ' why arent you in the A-team'. My workrate sucked, and besides there were brilliant players in my school team, and the guy who played in my position had star quality. So, what about the rest of you
Any replies will be appreciated

I used to be a midfielder in primary school. Then when i got to secondary school i don't know what happened, they put me in goal, and i started getting scared of the ball! So soon i said this is long, and i quit! LOL!
Thats my contribution - i hope it adds something to the thread! LOL!

In secondary school I once got asked at the last minute to fill in for the goal keeper for a inter school match.
We lost 11-0 and for some strange reason I never got asked again.

@Cash...Played right wing for about 3 seasons at school and top scorer for about 2 seasons on championship winning team. Secret was the superior athleticism of Caribbean boys. We had 5 of the fastest runners in the school in the team, me being one of them and we were quite tall and big.
So you can imagine the charges from the back or two or two or one on one. Those white boys did not stand a chance, just to quick and strong.
Played right mid feild for my borough, or what we use to call inside right. Didn't score as many in that position. But good position for leading the charge and spliting their midfeild and freeing up a brother or going direct.
Ah memories....

Couldn't header to save my life. But the balls were ugly in them days with big arse thick laces and you don't want them laces coming down on your forehead. Could split in two. Scored some bueaty headers. But in the wrong net during a crunch semi-final cup match?.confused3

Cashmoney- I played as aleft back in primary school and in secondary school. But I was better going forward and always better than who ever they put upfront as the left winger, So I changed and became a left winger. But because I score more often from that position than the centre forwards, I play as a striker sometimes except if we have a very good striker. I am lucky I can use both legs, but my left is stronger, also because i have a powerful shot i am very lethal in front of goal.
Unfortunately for me, I got to the UK when i was nineteen, so it was kinda of too late for me to join a club( I mean a proper club, not luton FC), what was on my mind then was eduation. I stop playing for a year. When i was in university, I thought people will play football everyday like we used to do in secondary school, but it wasn't like that. So I was losing my skills and sharpness. Iwas laterintroduced to a group of guys , and we still play till todayevery sunday, I play either on the left as a winger or as a centre forward because I always score and i don't waste chances. I wished I had been here earlier, you would have certainly be cheering for me. It is amazing that anywhere I goto play football, they always pick me last if that was my firstday. but next time I go and play, they pick me first. But I have regained my form now, I am still playing well. But I am getting old.:X:X:X

Was a striker at school from age 8 until around 15, then converted to centre-half when I changed schools 'cos there were toooo many better than me...when i left school, got close to playing semi-pro...wound up playing through my twenties in a big amateur league on saturdays, and with local guys on Sundays, both as a striker...when my knees started to go in my early thirties converted to central midfield...haven't kicked a ball in anger for over a decade now
Emile Heskey in his Leicester days (definitely not since!) would be the pro equivalent, I guess...

Hmmm its always hard to find a quality goalkeeper when starting a team..
Me I play in the hole..was never electrifying fast but subtle touches here and there..(i was raised in the Tottenham tradition after all)LOL.
Or always seemed to end up on the right wing..boy it can be lonely out there sometimes..
Now I just stick to Power League five a side.. those Sunday mornings dont seem to have the same appeal anymore..
