The vaseline thing went over my head... Im far to young and naive!!

As far as salaries it is disgusting and probably why people were happy (as you can see) to see the USA lose. Not that anyone is anti USA but its refreshing to see a tiny nation beat the overpaid spoiled babies of the richest nation on earth.

The olympics shouldnt allow NBA stars in the first place, its a disgrace! Thet dont allow boxers or other professionals soconfused3

No Im afraid I dont know too much about this stuff, I fear Im being corrupted here. I think it has something to do with the way your men slap each others rears after a game or move?

Its not wise it spoils the spirit of the game. Thats why the big stars of other professional sports are not allowed. They should all be young ones.

They're saying :

"Ain't no party like a Puerto Rican party 'cause a Puerto Rican party don't stop!!!"

Consideringthat PuertoRico is a territory ofthe US, their victorywas the equivalent was getting your big-a$$ beaten by your little cousin. Sure it's all in the family, but still...

HBO's Real Sports did a story this past summer on how non-US basketball teams (in Europe and Latin America) are catching up to the Americans . Basically, they are more hungry for it andbelieve in teamwork, whereas alot of the American playersare too oftenball-hoggers who are selfish and lazy in their game. In Italy, there are basketball camps that emphasize intensive training and discourage showing-off.

One of thecommentators in the storylikened this to when black players were allowed to compete in the NBA/ABA in the '60's andquickly dominated the game. Because back then they were passionate about basketball and hungry to prove themselves. Now it seems like a lot of NBA players are moreconcerned with their lucrative endorsements than actually playing ball. One commentator was actually afraid the NBA was going toone day be dominated by too many players from Eastern Europe and shut out black American players.

So the fact that the US basketball team is struggling is not a surprise to me.
