Windies get ready for Aussie trip
Champions Trophy heroes Bradshaw, left, and Browne are in the squad
West Indies have named a provisional squad of 25 for a triangular one-day series in Australia in January.
The series, also involving Pakistan, will mark the team's return to action from a three month lay-off following their Champions Trophy victory.
It will also be the first time they will play under new coach Bennett King.
The squad includes six uncapped names: Deighton Butler, Narsingh Deonarine, Sherwin Ganga, Xavier Marshall, Dinesh Ramdin and Dwight Washington.
But batsmen Dwayne Smith and Sylvester Joesph, wicket-keeper Carlton Baugh and pacemen Tino Best and Fidel Edwards have all been overlooked.
Australia tour itinerary
Smith was dropped by Barbados during the President's Cup following poor returns in last month's regional limited-overs competition.
"We believe he has a tremendous amount of potential and that he is just going through a phase," chairman of selectors Joey Carew said.
"He needs to score some runs, get some wickets and feel confident when he gets onto the field. I'm sure in the not-too-distant future he'll be back in the squad."
Baugh out
Jamaican wicket-keeper Carlton Baugh, 22, who had has played in five Tests and six one day internationals as Ridley Jacobs’ stand-in since his debut against Australia last year has also been left out.
Baugh was initially dropped in favour of the more experienced Courtney Browne in the ICC Champions Trophy in England, he has now been replaced by 19-year-old Trinidadian Dinesh Ramdin, who captained the West Indies team to the Youth World Cup final in Bangladesh last January.
No decision has yet been taken on who will captain the team, but King has indicated he feels Brian Lara should keep the job for the time being.
Others in the Caribbean believe, however, the time is right for a change, with Ramnaresh Sarwan and Chris Gayle among the leading candidates to take over if Lara is relieved of the post.
The West Indies Cricket Board, meanwhile, plans to hold a three-week training camp in Barbados, beginning on 29 November.
But all the players must meet new Eligibility and Selection criteria in order to attend.
Some of the new terms players will have to agree to in order to be accepted into the camp include players being available for selection to their national teams for all games in regional domestic competition which immediately precedes, or is concurrent with, the selection of the West Indies team for the tour which immediately follows such domestic competition.
The squad will be reduced to 14 prior to departure on 29 December, with their opening warm-up game against Victoria following a week later.
