I tell you another thing as well, if the American owners do not sort out their finances or sell the club to DIC, im telling you we will struggle to qualify for the CL in a few seasons time, because Benetiz couldnt develop a pack of stickle bricks let alone young players.

For instance Babel looked like a young Henry when he arrived, tonight he looked like a Sunday League player, clueless, hopeless and crap. The whole outfit would have not looked out of place on Hackney Marshes.
I am telling you guys we are going to get Babel at some time in the near future......

He has no hope there. The kid is going to go to waste there and he is just oozing talent and touch. Why and how he loses it when he puts on a Reds shirt is beyond me. If rafa could semi develop him, he would have a devastating attack especially with Kuyt in the form he is in at the moment.

I agree. Benetiz has managed to devalue him in the space of one season.

Plessis looked completely out of his depth although to be fair to him i have seen him play much better.

My observations are in comparison to the standard set by the Arsenal younsters who are light yrs ahead imo every yr. We may be winning things at youth level but Benitez has yet to develop any of these players into the 1st team sqaud with any real conviction. Its his development skills i have an issue with. Hes a good manager no doubt but hes a manager who needs a cheque book.

Its the same every year, take out a few key players and its good night God bless.
Yes, it's true. Benitez has yet to develop a youngster into a first team regular. There are some youngster making good progress though. Let's not forget that this problem is not exclusive to benitez. It's an epidemic in english football that english clubs are not training or nurturing academy players into their first team. There are some exceptions like villa, boro, arsenal (though a lot of their youngsters have been foreign imports). man city have promoted youngsters, but with their new owners i think that trend is set end. So liverpool are not the only ones.

I think that Benitez doesnt have a track record of players improving from A to B under his guidance. Thats not the same story with Arsenal or Man United for example who have developed lots of first team players through to the finished article. Ronaldo and Theiry Henry being the ulimate showcases of what Alex Fergurson and Wenger are capable of. Totally different styles of management.

Benitez seems to just churn players hoping that they're self motivated. Thats his style and its worked for him because up unitl now hes had an open cheque book to do so.

Nope. To play up front you need a decent first touch, or at least an average one. babel's first touch leaves a lot to be desired. It's clear rafa doesnt rate babel as a forward, i heard rafa say himself that he doesnt think babel is a target man. The four weeks where torres was injured rafa had a chance to play babel and keane up front...he didnt. even when keane was a lone striker at villa and against athletico, when he was subbbed off instead of putting babel on he subbed in an unproven youngster in ngog.

I do blame rafa for spending £11.5 million on a player he doesnt know what to do with. Babel wasnt the type of player we needed when he was bought, and he still doesnt fit into the team now. his recent complaining in the press boosts my suspiscion that he is a player that doesnt want to be here. I rate babel but i dont think him to be the next henry. so considering all these factors im out!

Yeah I am with him. If he had played Babel up front, you guys would not be in the spot you are in now. The talent needs to be cultured, but he is not there at the moment.

You can rectify a first touch issue? Just needs a little focus, extra hours after training if necessary. These players get paid obscene amounts of cash, so its absurd that some players cant even kick a ball with both feet. I find these things totally unacceptable but they do exist unbelievably in the proffessional game and at the highest level. Its more of an issue though if you have one weakness but other major assests, like pace, dribbling ability, and an eye for goal (all which Babel has) which never realise their full potential.

Henry was a winger when he first came on the scene and played almost identical to Babel's style. Hate to say it but other than the game last season when he came on sub and destroyed Arsenal, his game has gone backwards since arriving at Liverpool.

If we dont see him turn into a top Premiership player it will be because he hasnt been developed.

We better take advantage of Chelsea losing to Arsenal.

We had better indeed. Sometimes i worry beacause there are games where our players look really unmotivated, like against fulham last week.

Top of the table at december, eight points clear of the mancs, sounds nice!

I don't know about uninterested. Fulham has a tough defense. They have only given up 11 goals this year. If they could SCORE, they would probably be top 5 now.

I have to give it to Fulham this year, you have to unlock them to win. There is no more of that easy goal mess from the last few years. They play old Momo Chelsea type ball and I have to give it to them, it is working for them.

They look to strike on the break with Johnson and use Zamora to hold the ball up. At the moment they are built to stay in the EPL, if they look for a striker at the break we will know if they are seeking trophies next year.

You guys should win today. I honestly don't see how you could get anything less than a tie. The Hammers just don't have it in them this season.
