Finally we're back in business, i hope! Liverpool are a funny team, wedidnt turn up against FC Mainz or the mighty sheffield united, but then end up stuffing newcastle and tottenham. Some outside observers are wondering why do we think we have a chance. The answer is that last season we went on a run of ten straight wins...TWICE. So we know what we are capable of. If we can extend those straight wins then happy days.

See the way Gerrard beat the defender for the first goal. The playe is a genius. The doone what they didn't do last week...put their chances away...most weeks will be like that!
Alonso is a don who can fill Gerrards boots if Gerrard is injured. even better it's good to see the two can actually play on the same pitch together i.e. they don'tcancel each other out.
If I loveBenitez fornothing else, itwill be for giving Riise regular play. Houlier wasted many a talent at this club!

Didnt know you were a fan.
You're right, Gerrard is a magical player and is getting better. Our midfield is awesome, strongest line-up in the premiership. Riise is good but i wouldnt have him as my first choice left back. Aurello the Brazillian looks a much player. Real continential feel about him with a sweet left foot. Riise is a good player but is guilty of hoofing the long ball on occasions when the more asute player knows how to keep possesion.
ChampionsLeague midweek at home to Galatasaray(spelling). Weve beaten them before with a weaker squad than present. So expectthem to getdusted down neatly.

@ Le moor
it was Kuyt's second goal this season - he scored Vs Newcastle midweek....
I think Martin Jol described him perfectly there - "20 goals and 20 assists player"...!! clp)
Not sure if he will get us 20+ goals this year.. but i'd be happy if he scores 15+ goals plus assists!!
Regarding Gerrard - i agree - he needs to be played where he's good at - but not at the expense of Xabi or Momo - With the current system, we're winning games playing some good football- creating chances along the way .. if it aint broke, dont fix it i think...!! Im sure Gerrard will play centre when needs be..!! like say when we're behind or summin.. i trust Rafa to make the tactical changes when needs be...!!! I see no reason why we should play Gerrard centre just to keep him happy... boy he does look well depressed though......
Our next 3 games are Bolton AWAY, Blackburn HOME and Man United AWAY
Anything less than 7 points from these games would be a disaster!! We need to beat Bolton and Blackburn end of!! No excuses!!
We can beat Man U but i'd be happy with a point!!
Our next 10 games after Man U will be pretty straightforward.. i think we can win all 10..
Aston Villa HOME
Reading HOME
Arsenal AWAY smoking-devil our easiest fixture this season
Man City HOME
Portsmouth HOME
Wigan AWAY
Fulham HOME
Charlton AWAY
Watford HOME
PS: On the Champions League - i expect us to win all our home games - 3 points against Galatasary is a must... i wouldnt want to see us go to Turkey needing to get a result there..!!

Le Moor / rafa - I do fear the squad might be getting to diverse where benitez has issues picking the right team for the right match...think he's changed things around too much already for the start of this season. Think Crouch should have started against Chelsea miself.
I agree Riise is more an asset than someone you use day in day out but in a way I kind of feel happy for him, he just looks happy in himself to be at least part of the rotation system as opposed to being played cos there's no other choice.
In the past Stevie Gerrard always got injured before he could prove to me whether he was simply on a good run or whether he really is that good....and he really is that good.
Looks like it just took a win to kick start the season for a few clubs - let battle commence!

We have the best central midfielder in England, maybe in the world, and still rafa is taking him for granted! Get Gerrard back in the centre!! Momo is not in the same class as gerrard, but why does rafa prefer momo? Because he is a defensive force. Benitez loves off his defences somomo is first pick. He doesnt really offer us much going forward and is prone to passing mistakes. First few games it was evident that there was poor link up play between the midflield andattack. We need Gerrard back in the centre to strengthen that link up play.

Have to say i agree with Tobitrice. As much as i love Momo and Alonso Gerrard is better than both. You have to look at whos most effective. What makes it hard is that each of them are different players, however Alonso and Momo are the most similiar in the sense they can both play holding role without taking away too much from their natural game.

All three is an option with Gerrard playing in an attacking free midfield role with a lone striker. Same role as Paul Scoles used to play so well.
Kuyt looks capable and we know Crouch can do the lone striker role.

Rafael Benitez has spoken passionately about his dream of one day leading Liverpool out at a massive new stadium.
With the Reds still planning to leave Anfield for a larger stadium in Stanley Park, Benitez has spoken for the first time about what it would mean to him personally to be the Reds manager on the day the Reds kick-off a new era in a new ground.
"My dream is to lead out the team at the new Anfield," revealed Benitez, "and, if I stay here for three or four more years, then we have that possibility. That would make me really happy. The atmosphere in Anfield is amazing and, if we can do the same in another big stadium, that will be perfect.
"I have been talking to the chairman and Rick Parry about how to do this. It's not easy but I think we can do it. How can you keep the spirit? You can if you keep the support. Then, in maybe 50 years' time, we can talk about the history of the new stadium. But we must feel the supporters behind us.
"Anfield has always been special because of the boot room, the people, winning trophies, the supporters. So just think about a new Anfield with even more fans. The design will be so important. When you talk about a new stadium, it's not necessary to plan one too big.
"If that happens, you separate the supporters from the pitch. The new stadium can be closer and still bigger. I've been to the Boca Juniors stadium - La Bombonera - and that's fantastic. The stands are very steep and I remember being on the bench and the supporters were above me. The atmosphere was amazing. The screaming came from above your head. It's like a coliseum.
"The Kop is amazing. So are all our supporters around the ground. If we can bring these people, plus 10,000 or 15,000 more and, if we are close to the pitch, the atmosphere will be the same as Anfield.
"I know for a fact that it will be easier to bring more money into the club if we have the possibility of a new stadium. Liverpool are special in that we are one of the few clubs in this country who could fill a stadium like that every game."
15,000 to 20,000 is not big enough. i want a 80,000 capacity stadium, 10,000 more than Man U.
The former Thai Prime Minister was sniffing around the club at one time. Bout hes putting coup d'etat as more important than our club...

Easy us? LOL We will only wait for Gerrard to pass back to the keeper only for Henry to intercept it and score LOL I mean how many times has he did that? Twice once in club play and once for country LOL
@ All
Seriously what is up with Stevie G? He looks worn out. TO me he does not have the prettiest form but is the key to whether Liverpool goes anywhere. Seems as if they should rest him considering he has played in the CL, EPL and world cup not including the early start they had last year. Liverpool mgmtis wrong for ridinghim into the ground like that especially after his loyalty to them because he could have left...........

Im not inna this rest business. Yesterday i was dealing with a client, she's a nurse in a premature unit. Earns £25,000 per year main income. Works part-time as well for another £6000 pa. Her hours are 12 hour days most days, 6/7 days per week. She saves babies lives

Stevie Gerrard works probably about 1.5 hours days, 4 times a week max and earns £80,000 per week. He kicks ball for fun.

Peter Crouch reflected on the stunning second half strike which earned the Reds three points against Galatasaray and declared: "It's the best of my Liverpool career so far!"
Crouch volleyed home an acrobatic overhead kick to give Liverpool a 3-0 lead and put them seemingly on the way to a comfortable home victory after Luis Garcia had added to Crouch's eighth minute opener.
Galatasaray launched a spirited fightback in the second period and pulled two goals back through Umit Karan, but in the end it was Crouch's contender for goal of the season which ultimately settled the tie.
"It was a special moment for me to score that goal at the Kop end," said the Reds' striker, who was making his first start in five games. "I'd have to say it's the best of my Liverpool career so far.
"It's obviously frustrating to have been on the bench over recent games because you always want to play. But at a club this size you know you'll be out of the team every now and again and you just have to make sure you're ready when selected.
"I thought we played well in the first half tonight and then when we scored the third maybe we thought the game was over. Credit to them for coming back into it and it was a bit worrying at the end.
"The important thing is we've won the game and picked up the three points. That's what matters at the end of the night."
Liverpool's victory puts them at the top of Group C with four points ahead of PSV Eindhoven who also sit on four points after their 1-0 victory in Bordeaux this evening.
Dusted down indeed.
