After Mr woods won the British open recently I heard Europeans on the Radio openly comparing him to Muhammed Ali... saying that he was just as great if not greater than Ali.. For the impact he has had on Golf..
Now like most I would give him his props for his feat in Golf, however I personally think its just going too far to compare him to Ali, or talk of him being as Great as Ali.. ALi for men had a greater man in and out of the sport....whereas I just feel Woods is just a GREAT sportman...am I wrong?

He may go on to be as great as Pele. That means completly dominate his sport and set a standard as the unquestioned best ever and do things not seen done before. That's possible as a potential (not yet). Pele also was a quiet one on race and quite shook of whitey or adoring of him...
Ali was bigger than boxing, he was a statesman. He sacrificed his boxing career for something bigger. An uncompromising NOI member was it was EVIL to be one... nah man. The comparison there is ridicolous.

Of course we will always be reminded of Jack Nickalaus who to date has surpassed Woods achievements in winning 18 major tournaments. Until he beats this which he will, he will not be regarded as the greatest golfer of all time.
Nickalaus will be.
How do i know this ?
Quite recently, before i picked up a record breaking award for performance at work, (bigs up chest) the crowdwas given Nickalaus as an example of how to think and believe etc. Setting aside the 'double edged sword' agenda going' on, it was specifically stressed that he was the greatest ever because of these 18 wins........
Woods has won 12 i think, but should easily surpass this amount by thetime he finishes his career.

Once he surpasses Jack Nicklaus's 18 majors, feel he will be the greater than Ali. But to be greater than Pele, that will be difficult, nigh on impossible
As a sportsman, Ali was great, but certainly not the greatest. It was the fact that he transcended boxing that has cemented his legend
You ever heard of the Golden Rule. He who has the gold makes the rules!
He who asks is a fool for five minutes. He who never asks remains a fool for ever.

I agree with DM.Tiger is dominating and will probably break the record of total majors. But he is far from Ali.Ali was beloved, while Tfger is respected.
