Watching the Olympics flicking throught, next thing I hear from the commentatorsisthat Darren Campbell made some 'emotional comment'. Did any one see what happened?

I saw it, I don't think he was being emotional. He basically was sending a message out to the UK it looks, that he ain't no hypocrite and that the critics have being saying stuff about him. So he told the UK, you got your gold from us, now get lost.

I love that brotha !clp)clp)clp)

It appears that Mr Campbell was Bex that Dwaine Chambers was included in the relay squad, Given that Mr Chambers cost Campbell two medals I can totally understand why he would be totally pissed...

Darren has a right to vex that Dwain cost him his medals earlier. An athlete would. But how does he explain working/having Linford Christie as his coach. isnt that a case of double standards?

Atleast, both Dwayne and Linford Christie still maintain some form of innocence.

....but Dwayne was caught. With Linford it was "speculation" (and ginseng(!)

Would have loved to be a fly on the wall at training....

I feel the media are lying about this one. Don't make sense why you would make the man you fallout with, run the lap of honour and not join your team mates because of a falling out. Its a bit suspect to me, bow your head during the playing of the national anthem, and hold flowers facing down....

Seems to me, the media have internalised it, make it seem like a squabble amongst team members, but the prob's is something else...

thats my take on it......

He was interviewed on BBC Radio Four's Today programme shortly before 8.00 am this morning. The transcript should be available on their website.

He was interviewed on BBC News this morning.

Basically, he's pissed at being made to run the 4x100 metres, when there is a chance he could be stripped of the medal again because of Chambers' drug taking. He said he spoke to the selectors re Chambers being in the squad, and was given the choice of not running and missing out on a medal, or running and getting Gold. He chose to run, but decided to make his stand against drug taking in the sport in his way.

Personally, I'd have respected him more if he hadn't run. Seems to be a bit of ego there, hence his running and getting the medal. I don't think he wanted to take the chance of not getting a medal, even though he may be stripped of it in the future.

Lady Vee: i've now read, and seen his version of evnts....I think the difficulty he has is the fact that he hasn't been consistent in expressing his views and shown enough integrity to back his position.. Like you said if he had chosen NOT to run, I'd have a bit more respect for him...

However that said I certainly think that by the same token the UK Athletics board have behaved with equal double standards.. Now remind me wasn't it Lord Coe who point blank refused to use Linford Christine for any of the promotional work leading to the 2012 Olympic bid..because i presume he was tainted by the drugs scandal... Strange then that now that British sprinting is in the the toilet, they are willing to use him to develop the team? That for me is equally strange...

Darrens a fool because if he really felt strong and didnt want to be a hypocrite then he shouldnt have run insteadof being all childish about it.I know he must have been p*ssed about the loss of two medals but to carry on like that is pathetic. Chambers is back and clean, hes paid for what he has done so people need to get over it.

He probably ran to prove a point that his perfomance is there and he has the ability to win medals.. this way the media would not even question is perfomance... they wouldn't have even giving him any attention whatsoever if he hadn't run, but by running! he proved that he can run, he can win medals and he still stuck with his statement. To me thats what sportsmanship/teamwork is about.

Plus his got mouths to feed.. do you know how much bonus he would have missed out on.smoking-devil
