team usa loses to GREECE...best the team can do is to beat argentina in consolation game and win the Bronze
What happened....usa team and the former soviet republics fell off..WAY OFF.........
in a way ..kinda glad the team lost..during olympics...they tried to blame Iverson alone for the loss... no wwith hand picked coach...and handpicked players..still no gold......
The USA team losing to Greece didn't surprise me at all. Nowadays, they will have to play with the best of the best to take away gold.
US basketball has lost talent, some of the hyped up players are just average. they always speak of "the new Jordan", "better than Jordan" but they are crap compared to the big stars of NBA history.
All the European teams have been playing together for years, most of them since youth teams. They come up with experience, team ghost and talent . So i do not see any chance for the USA to reclaim the old status, if they don't show up with Shaq, Kobe, Iverson, Duncan, Carter etc. Players with skills, not just media sensations.
btw. it might be quite helpful to recruit a decent coach...maybe Phil Jackson for the next Olympics
