Hmmmm, things are now getting interesting. Both Man U defenders out, and Rio for the rest of the season. This will definately effect Man U as they dont have top drawer replacements in the heart of their defence.

Yeah maybe not, at first they were saying his leg was in plaster, but i saw him walk off the pitch-so it's probably not that bad.

I am the same. I can tolerate man U winning or Liverpool, but I can't stand it if Chelsea sneak in and steal the trophy. We played the best ball in the first half and The U did in the second half, but if Chelsea sneaks in and steals it, it would be a travesty of justice and football.......

Note to Fergie:
Make em RUN! Play our fast tempo dashing game on Sunday and make those whingers run and run! Defense or no defense Arsenal simply don't look like they have the legs to perform anymore.

Arsene has ridden the boys into the ground. Fergie even rotates and sits Ronaldo and Rooney because he has SUFFICIENT backup for them.

If Ronaldo goes out, The U has Scholes or Anderson to slide into his spot not including Park or that nameless speedy welsh guy.

Rooney out, you still have Tevez and Saha.

If adebayor goes out Arsene got bentdner....... 'nuff said.......

To challenge for a title now you have to have as much ammo as your neighbors. Chelsea stepped it up a notch for the league by having top class cover at every position. Man U was smart enough to recognize this and did the same. We just go and attempt to find players in the dirt hoping to find diamonds.

We have did so but look at the rough rocks we have as well like Bendtner, Armaior (something like that), Song who is a mid level player at best and the list goes on. Eduardo is a different story but I can't count a man that will be out a year.

OMG I can't believe our cheapness has cost us a title we had in our hands. I mean we should have seen the signs when he flung an injured Henry on the field last year in the CL hoping for a miracle. He is a great teacher/buyer of the game, but probably one of the worse tacticians/strategists there is.

Oh he of likkle faith. Arsenal have spent no money because of the Emirates investment. When that ground has paid for itself, the money the ground generates per game will probably mean you wont have to rely on crap players like Adebeyor, Almunia, Eboue, Sendoros, and Benztner.

The stadium cost £430 million so how do you figure this would be a non-factor with subsequent transfer dealings, or at least the potential to deal in the transfer market?. Yeah Wenger is a shrewd buyer, but every yr he has slashed out on big name signings, Henry, Pires, Wiltord, Reyes, Van Brockhurst, Adebayor. With the little money hes spent hes won the league 3 times, come runner up 5 times, won the FA cup 5 times and reached a CL final. So he's proven actually he can achieve with one or two big signings and 5 or so low cost potential signings each yr.

Since the staduims been built hes done vertially neither, and you've seen the effect of this sacrifice this season. Once the club is back to where they were, their income will be that much stronger and then your cries of not spending may be justified if they dont then spend. Up until now Arsenal, who have never had an Oil Baron investor, can thank their lucky stars Wenger came along and not only delivered success but also profiteered in his transfer records. Even Fergurson cant claim that because hes bought a whole heap of expensive flops over the years.

The alternative of course is to carry on spending, like you foolishly suggested, after spending £430 milllion, and end up like Leeds UTD.

Back in 2006, when the debt on the new stadium was hovering around 260 mil lbs Arsenal converted that into an insurance bond remember? Plus we sold and got rid of Pires, Vieria and Henry which means more money which is left open for new signings.

Now again focusing on usage of the word "FOOLISH".....before you FOOLISHLY talk on a club know more about the club than a couple of numbers and know the whole story and the right numbers..... also the 460 you quoted in actuality is 260......

Now before the start of the season this was posted by the BBC....

BBC NEWS | Business | New stadium boosts Arsenal income

New stadium boosts Arsenal income

Arsenal's move from Highbury to the larger 60,000 seat Emirates Stadium is beginning to show results off the field of play for the north London club.

Their annual financial results to 31 May 2007 show that income soared 46% to £200.8m, up from £137.2m a year before.

Match income is now put at £3.1m a game, with total match income over the past year coming to £90.6m.

However, TV revenues were down on 2005/06, when the club reached the Champions League final, by £10m.

The figures also showed that Arsenal's operating profits before player trading and exceptional items was £51.2m, up from £13.7m the previous year.

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood said: "The best way that Arsenal can continue to deliver success is by maintaining a business that pays its own way.

"This philosophy helped establish our objectives for the club's move away from Highbury, and Emirates Stadium now provides Arsenal with the increased income, profitability, cash generation and firm financial foundations from which we will continue to build trophy-winning Arsenal teams for many years to come."

Arsenal's income for 2006/07 moves it close to Real Madrid, whose turnover was £202m for the 2005-06 season.

And more than 90% of the housing units at "The Stadium - Highbury Square" development at their former stadium are already pre-sold, with final completion sales expected to comfortably exceed £300m.

However pretax-profit dropped to £5.6m from £15.9m the year before, after taking into account a £21m one-off charge to refinance the £260m it cost to build its new stadium.

Russian billionaire

The past year has also seen jostling at the boardroom level of the club.

Former vice-chairman David Dein left the club in April over differences with the board over investment possibilities, with American businessman Stan Kroenke's potential involvement thought to be a major sticking point.

Mr Dein is now the chairman of Red and White Holdings and looks certain to remain a key figure in the future shape of the boardroom composition.

Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov has been gradually building up a stake in the club and on Friday said he wanted to increase his holding.

Red and White Holdings Ltd, which is co-owned by Mr Usmanov and business partner Farhad Moshiri, currently holds a 21% stake.

Mr Usmanov is a metals magnate with an estimated $5.5bn fortune.

He first bought into Arsenal in August when he paid Mr Dein about £75m for his 14.65% holding.

That holding was increased earlier this month when he bought another tranche of shares.

Russian media reports have said that Mr Usmanov now aims to up his share in Arsenal to at least 25% plus one share.

Should Mr Usmanov reach a 30% stake in the club then he would be obliged to make a takeover offer.

However on Monday the club's managing director Keith Edelman said that Mr Usmanov had not sought a meeting with Arsenal.

He also said that he expected to have further talks with Stan Kroenke, the American businessman who owns a 12% stake in the club.

So like I said, the money is there. Arsene just will not spend it.
