Tiger shrugs off TV commentator's lynching comment
NEW YORK (AFP) - Tiger Woods saw no insult or ill will in a television commentator's comment that any golfer trying to test him might have to "lynch him in a back alley", Woods' agent said in a statement.
The Golf Channel's Kelly Tilghman made the comment during coverage of the US PGA Tour season-opening event in Hawaii on Friday while joking with English analyst Nick Faldo about Woods, who was not playing at the tournament.
Mark Steinberg, Woods' agent, issued a statement declaring the uproar regarding lynching and the first black golfer to win a major title was not a major concern.
"This story is a non-issue," Steinberg said. "Tiger and Kelly are friends and Tiger has a great deal of respect for Kelly. Regardless of the choice of words used we know unequivocally that there was no ill-intent in her comments.
"This story is a non-issue in our eyes. Case closed."
Tilghman said Tuesday in a statement that she meant no insult to Woods or offense to viewers.
"On Friday during our golf broadcast, Nick Faldo and I were discussing Tiger's dominance in the golf world and I used some poorly chosen words," she said.
"I have known Tiger for 12 years and I have apologized directly to him. I also apologize to our viewers who may have been offended by my comments."

Tiger is a get along go along type of guy.
He doesn't cause "trouble" he's a "swell guy"
That's how he stays making money.....being a non threatening smiling sports figure.....and a complete clown.
I like Al Sharpton , but in this case Al and Jesse should realize that if Tiger doesn't care......gonna be hard to protest this issue......

Of course he shrugged it off, lol. I hadn't heard anything about the story, until a friend of mine called me about it, all hyped up. I said he is not going to have a problem with it, watch. He didn't disappoint......

Me too. It's sad that the reactions of those of his ilk are so predictable. When my friend told me about it, I thought to myself I hope Sharpton doesn't say anything about this, cause if he does, that Sell out N*gger will denounce him, instead of the white chick who talked about lynching him....

Fox news reported that "]The Golf Channel suspended anchor Kelly Tilghman for two weeks on Wednesday for saying last week that young players who wanted to challenge Tiger Woods should "lynch him in a back alley."
Kelly's employers did find something wrong the comments, contrary to what Tiger might think. I wonder if Tiger privately found the comment disturbing, especially that the comment is yet reminding Tiger of "the black man" he is. I think Tiger should send Rev. Al sharpton a thank you note for the back up, because the media will now think twice about throwing racist comments at Tiger.

Why should he find offense?
Let them do their job we're not here to heal them and to be honest I respect the amerikkkans honesty.
I wanted to know if the Dagara elders could tell the diffrence between fiction and reality. The elders did not understand what a starship is, they did not understand what the fussy uniforms had to do with anything but they recognized in Spock a Kontomble of the seventh planet... they had never seen a Kontomble that big.

Why would he be offended? He's a caublanasian(sp)! He even married the whitest of a white woman to prove it.

It's funny cause people like him always act like it's Black folks trying to make him consider himself Black. They never get mad at the white folks like Fuzzy, and this chick who invariably throw them into the N*gger category. We're not the ones talking about how his white golfing peers should lynch him or saying we hope he doesn't bring fried chicken and collard greens to the Master's tournament, lol. BTW, these are white people in both instances who KNOW him, interact with him. He's friendly with the white chick who said this. As BARELY Black as he is in genetics, culture , mindset, and behavior, these white people who have had personal interaction with him and know how UN-bLACK he is, STILL see him as a N*gger and can't refrain from making comments that manifest that. As Snoop Dogg would say, "Now what that let you know?"
I'm with Black Lion, I respect the AMerican Cracker's honesty and consistency. You can go along in this country thinking you are caublasian or whatever the hell you want to think you are, but before it's all over with, these white folks here are going to REMIND you of what you are, you gotta love them for that, lol. The only difference is that these days, people like this chick for the most part, have to be resigned to TALKING about lynching someone like him. Not so along ago, she could have said it,and it would have been DONE, and all the protestations in the world about how much white and Asian blood he has in him would not have done him a damn bit of good. It probably would have gotten his ass lynched, QUICKER.

very true....I think that's what the attraction to L.A. and Hollywood was. Easier access to white women.....and less of "social stigma by whites".
But these athletes did at least try to form an economic union and work with Black entrepreneurs and business students. I don't know how far they actually got.
To be honest...i don't think there is a natural attraction between Black men and white women. I think society trying to keep the 2 apart is what drove the fascination both ways. I can't speak for these older Black men but I've always felt that the Mercedes, the big house and the requisite white (always Blonde) wife represented success to them. As much as people claim to not like white people...when many get money...they copy his definition of success VERBATIM.
I can't see so many men from different parts of the country and the world all being attracted to the same type of women naturally.
what will always shocked me is when guy from my generation, who grew up in time where the same forces aren't in place STILL look to somebody else's views as what their view should be.

The smell of the once all mighty dollar is too strong does Tiger think him YT people were happy for him winning all those trophies in what was once and still a YT exclusive sport of sorts??..he tried to play the i'm not a colour card he should have got lessons from MJ...no ones claiming him but why be in denial of what you are and even more so how they view you...it says a lot of the mindset of the reporter known to Tiger because it he were YT her mind wouldn't automatically conjure up 'LYNCHING'...i really thought he would at least have ended up with a sort of Amerie who has the same ethnic make up as him but ay!!..
one will need a bigger lie to cover the first one
