mmm i guess they cant fathom the sort of money that F1 driver lewis hamilton garners and how much mor epress and sponsorship that end of race car driving has gotten
but folks check out some of the comments at the end of the article
As an African American race car fan I can shed some light on this.I've attended F1,NASCAR,ALMS,CCWS,IRL and other types of series.
Trust me NASCAR is struggling to increase its market share because like the aticle alluded to ratings are starting to go stagnant. Thus the influx of openweheel racers like Juan Pablo Montoya. Not too sure that sits well with the base fans. Most I've spoken to don't like it.
I've never had one problem with fans at NASCAR events. You'll get more grieve over what driver you support than your race. Also the article spoke about a small regional track. If some cracker started with me.I'll just inform the track officials ,the heckler gets tossed out and I'll get a free pass for the net five years there.Track officials and NASCAR is trying hard to shed that redneck image. They go out of their way for the few Black patrons there.
As for Hamilton.F1 is so controlled .NASCAR drivers makes megas millions from the sale of theri image.
Funny haven't heard much about his sexlife. Thought he was dating an Asian chick.Did see he signed a long-term deal with Mcclaren. The amount seemedlike alot but when Alonzo or Kimi signs for say 120 million Euros per year Lewis will be pissed because those super mega salaries are around the corner.
As for race.I read several F1 messageboards and the posters said that race didn't matter when Lewis won in Indy when theAmerican press pushed the subject, yet when the things got tight with him and Alonso it become racial very quickly. The Spanish are notoriously racist.
