Accepting that track & field has long been corrupted by drugs, still can't understand why the knives are out for him so badly these last couple of days. What he's doing is within the rules, and he is not the first to come back after a drugs ban, nor the only UK athlete going to the World Indoor meet with previous form (shot putter Carl Myerscough being the other).

Is it that the powers that be don't believe him when he says he's now clean, or do they think he's rubbing their noses in it? Or is there an angle to the story that has yet to emerge?

There's a school of thought that believes the board is being aught out by its own rules and now their trying to make amends. At the end of the day if he has served the punishment according to what they specified he should be allowed to compete.

My personal opinion is that they want their white boy Pickering to win the 60 metres, and since Chambers has the fastest time of the year at 60 metres in Europe it seems unlikely that he would with Chambers around..

The thing is once banned they don't expect you return, out of pride and even denial. Dwain is doing his thing within the rules so should be allowed back, if he was banned for life then he'd have little choice.

It's all about representation....it's like employing an ex con, it's a stain on the reputation and image. That Kelly Holmes seems to be running up her mouth a lot. She seems to be emphasizing the fact that Dwain once said you can't win anything without taking drugs. Surely this is what the man is trying to come back to prove wrong. She's going on like he still believes this. Well now that she's a dame she's well and in their camp now...not to mention Dwain probably reminds her of her 'big black wotliss' dad.

Dwain was a fool, got used like a mule, anything he wins now is redundant....I suspect he's doing it for prize money more than anything else.

Chrisitine Uhurougu (spelling) got a bad rap when she came back from her ban and she just missed the test, wasn't even caught doing anything.

They have now tried to ban him from most of the lucrative meets starting with this weekend's meet...they pick and choose who to leave out all those rehabilitated European cheats have sneaked in without a word being said double standards indeed thats what pisses me off lets apply the rules to the letter not one for Africans and another for Europeans...

I think the Dwaine Chambers issue is reflective of this country, who appears to want have their cake and eat it.... If dwaine had turned to badness they would be tut tutting and begging the boy to rehabilitate himself back into society... However they clearly want to keep making people repay and repay for the same crime until they die...

At the end of the day I have no time for Chambers.. he is a prize fool, for throwing away his destiny for 30 pieces... However they made the rules, he served it like a man.. never bleated or complained he took his medicines... Now that he wants to make a living they are moaning about crediblity, as if he choose his own punishment.... They should moan at themselves they bottled the life ban decision in favour of this half way approach.. yet they want to scapegoat athletes for using their weakness against them...

And what gets me is that no one mentioned the EAST Germans, the Former USSR or the Chinese competitors who were obviously on steriods and god knows what else.. no one currently attacks the American Athletes who are currently the new EAST Germans...with their systematic drug use...because it will rock too many boats...

Until the athletic community are prepared to talk the truth and name, names...across the board..in my view they should shut the hell up about chambers...because they are in danger of making themselves look and sound foolish... especially that idiot Holmes..because she is not going to tell me that Maria Matola [her former lover] wasn't on some form drug enhancement programme..because that is bollocks...[google a picture of her and judge for yourself] this is where Kelly Holmes make herself look like a complete hypocrite...

If she is going to talk about cheating..she should talk about her silver medal in the World championships in Paris...and then tell us that she and Matola didn't cheat in gaining the gold and silver that year...

If Dwain said you can't win anything without drugs, there's a good chance that this comment was based on his inside knowledge knowing who and who is who and who and who are on it - he almost sounds like he was simply repeating what the chemist told him...maybe he really is just a dim guy....all brawn and no brain.

Other than Dwain admitting taking drugs, I don't think Linford Christie faired any better against the media but I did get the impression most fellow athletes had his back.

To be very honest Linford got off lightly..because there is no doubt in my mind that he was also drug assisted.. he went from so so runner into world champion and able to not only compete but BEAT the Americans virtually overnight... all you have to do is look at his figures to see the jump in class..
