Didnt see the turkey croatia game. Gotta hand it to the turks tho, they got heart, in club and country football.
The dutch got wasted today. russia looked more like the team that terrorised england in moscow, suppose that moscow defeat wasnt such an embarrasment after all.

Well done Russia. The likes of England and Holland obviously need to wake up and realise that the teams of yesterday who used to be the whipping boys of International football, are now paying big money, to top coaches, and can now play ball.
The win last night was no jinx, Russia out manouvred Holland in every department, in a big tournament game, so its fair to conclude they could do the same to England again if they wished.

One thing I have noticed is that with the Eastern European teams there is more mephasis on the collective, whilst with the Western teams there is more emphasis on key players.
After seeing Russia outplay Sweden I knew there game with Holland would be interesting. However I am still suprise Holland lost.
One thing I have noticed with this tournament is that hardly any of the teams have a solid central defence. I remember me and my brother were talking about who we though was going to win the tournamnet,, after the first 2 matches, and we both highlighted that even though Portual, Spain, and Holland have a good attacking force they both had slack defences.

JJ - I was kind of thinking the same. In all the games I saw there seemed to be this attitude of playing football that looked good no matter how expensive it was, it was like it was being played for the entertainment factor as opposed to dogged content.
Saying that I told myself Holland are due a bad game and if they win it they'll win the tournament...also the games seem to be coming quite thick and fast, those Russians are more of a grafters team than Holland and tournament stamina may be a point. By rights Russia should have had half a dozen goals and that was based on what I saw from mid way through the second half onwards.

Tournament footy rule number one restored - Germans played shit but in the final entertaining match thou, when the telly pictures got through!
Jens Lehman denies reports Roy Carroll is Germany's new goalkeeping coach
Come on lads, we'll show 'em who's a "guest worker"
