Well in the january sales i have been purchessing a few items i know i will need for university when moving out, like iron, plates etc but i dont know all the things i need and dont wanna go mad buyin nonsense items.

I know when you have accepted a place and contacted the accomodatiosn office they give you a list of all the stuff you will need, but i wont get that for a long time:

You might wanna check out this site, although some of the things listedmay be a bit obvious . Also, if you are going to live in Uni accommodation, remember that the people moving in with you are likely to bring take some things that may lighten your load (e.g. at one point we had 6 kettles in our kitchen). So not everything you may think of taking will be necessary. Furthermore, some unis provide some basicthings such as lamps, irons...

Hope this helps.

Peace

Don't me like me: I packed everything plus the kitchen sink! Check to see if there is a Walmart or Target nearby. If so, plan on just buying most of your stuff that. If you're going to be in a dorm, you will eat at the university dining commons, so you won't need a lot of plates. Rite-Aid/Savons/Walgreens has plastic dishes, sometimes as low as a quarter each. Plan on getting some of those once you arrive at school, if they are out there. Also, get those vacuum space saver bags--they help a lot! Congratulations, and good luck! Make us all proud!

I am a blkscholarsenior at FAMU so I kinda remember some of the things I had to buy... some of the things friends bought to make their stay more comfortable... etc.
  • Extra Long Twin Size Sheets, Pillow(s), Eggshells (matress topper)
  • Telephone w/ Answering Machine
  • Shower Shoes (flip flops will do)
  • Shower Caddy
  • Soap
  • Toothbrush/Toothpaste
  • Toliet Paper
  • Disenfectant Spray
  • Combination Lock
  • Surge Protectors
  • 3-Prong Adapter
  • Hamper
  • Laundry Basket/Bag
  • First-Aid Kit
  • Mirror
  • Iron, Ironing Board
  • Trash Basket
  • Area Rug
  • Alarm Clock
  • Fan
  • Towels, Washcloths
  • Small Refrigarator
  • Storage Containers
  • Hangers
  • Shoe Rack
  • Flashlight
  • Desk Lamp
  • Extention Cord
  • Message Board
These are just a few things you might want to think about purchasing. A few of the items might not be neccessay, but that it for you to determine. I did not bring my TV until I moved into the campus apartments because our dorms did not have cable. But I did buy a computer blktype(laptop is good)and a radio. Don't forget to save some money for books and school supplies! If you plan on being involved on campus, make sure you have a nice suit and some comfortable pumps. Have fun!!!
