hiya .... i am a black lady blkscholarcurrently studying programming and website design.... just wondering how people are coping learning the topic......what is a good period to have learnt it all, i.e. programming, database and website designing...? How to people study and what mechanisms do people employ to help drum these topics hard and fast? Is there a IT Black group in London where people can link up ? I find that i am learning this topic all by myself which at times it can become somewhat dragged... hope to hear from you...

Don't know what language you are using but the book:

PHP, MySQL and Apache by Julie C. Meloni

has the whole 9 yards and a CD-ROM. I've built a simple website just by reading an HTML book. I've used various languages before though. PHP resembles C. I've used DBase and Foxbase before also, so all of the concepts in here are familiar to me. I don't know where you are starting from.
