As an academic/ educator, with a lot of experience in working in mainstream educational environments, I would very much like to get the opportunity to work in a more diverse setting. I have a list of historically black colleges - does anyone hereknow of any additional colleges (community colleges oruniversities) that have a large African American student population? Any information would be much appreciated.

There are schools known as "land grant" institutions that may not quite fit under HBCU status. Those that come to mind are: Chicago State,University of the District of Columbia,Malcolm/Medger College,Soujorner Truth College,Harris Stowe,City College of New York.

Poetic,
I will admit, that is the partial disadvanage of going to a majority Black College/University, but I would never dis them. If there are some great things that I can say about them is that I get to learn the truth about myself-history wise. It's very rich and honest in history which otherwise ,I may not always find in a majority White institution. I went to a majority White University, but there were plenty of time where I had to go to the AU center and find out things for my report because of this. Mostly, I wouldn't dis black colleges in the manner that you are because if it weren't for those schools, we( balck people) wouldn't be in those colleges today.

That's a bull@hit response.Until the late 60's/early 70'sHBCU's were your ONLY choice for going to school. From the way states are dismantling affirmative action it may be that way again.

amen, I went to one and it was great and it is as real as any other world whether it has all whites, blacks, browns or yellows or reds. or all one religion or all one subject matter. its just an individuals choice.
