It's of no surprise to me that 'examiners' and 'teachers' mark papers how they want.

Especially when all that's required to 'safeguard' against unfairness is to have other 'teachers/examiners' agree with thegrades of 'teachers/examiners' doing the marking.

After allthey've been marking 'blacks' fairly for years right?

@Well from my experience it is the reverse. Students being awarded grades they have no business receiving. Taught Business Law once and was told by my head of department that I was a bit stiff, this is after I had been externally verified by a vetrand examiner.

Nope they wanted more people with higher passes to make them look good. I did not comply and left shortly afterwards and swore never ever teach at FE level again. This is why elite universities have all or soon will be introducing screening examinations through the back door because most in the know have no respect for the current educational regime and standards.

Was talking to a colleague yesterday at a Uni with a lot of Chinese. Man said most of them cannot even write basic English and how they ended up in university is beyond him. Once upon a time when we got Chinese they were top standard. Now since 1992 we have doubled the amount of 'universities' which have to be filled one way or another.

Look you can simply have a conversation with most of these students and see intellectually they are not up to it and it is not them but the system.

Hey this article is about the inflexibility of the marking scheme which punishes particular students. But these are the same systems which actually reduces standards and make it easier to pass which discriminates against students of a particular type anyhow.
