Also a vary, VARY good link to free language packs. Swahili and Zulu amoust others.
I learned so much with this, I bought the delux package. It has a great audio programme that allows you to hear the words pronunciation at different speeds.

For a 'freebie' it's great!

I am a little peed off at the amount of 'coolie' words within swahili but hey, no language is an island.

Kiswahili song Lady Jaydee

"Siku Hazigandi"
http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIV1EoGEPKs

Lyrics:

Mmmh ad lib
Aiya ya ya ya....
Chorus
Yote mlosema, mlotenda, nasahau, nasonga mbele
Mangapi yamesemwa, mangapi nimeona
Mmmh liosema
Aah nasonga mbele
Mangapi yamesemwa, mangapi nimeona
Eh nimesemwa sana jamani, Hamchoki?
Repeat Chorus
Verse 1
Nadhani hamyajali maumivu yangu moyoni
Na wala hampendi kwangu yatokee mazuri
Hata nisiowategemea, leo hii mmenigeuka
Hata nilio waheshimu, leo hii mnanihukumu
Kila mtu ana dhambi, msijihesabie haki
Kusemwa semwa sitaki, hakuna alie msafi
Repeat Chorus
Verse 2
Sijali maneno yenu kwani kuna hata magazeti
Sijali visa vyenu havifanii kwa ukweni
Ni potofu fikra zenu msokaa kufanya yenu
Kunijua sana undani siwapi tena nafasi
Ooh siku hazigandi, hata mseme mangapi
Kila mtu ana dhambi, hakuna alie msafi
Verse 3
Nadhani hamyajali maumivu yangu moyoni
Na wala hampendi kwangu yatokee mazuri
Hata nisiowategemea, leo hii mmenigeuka
Hata nilio waheshimu, leo hii mnanihukumu

Is there a root language of the continent? Know that Swahili is the most popular as well as Zulu but is it a root language... one that the other languages are derived from?

Do you guys think Swahili should be the international Pan African language spoken amongst us?

I think it is important to be able to tell people about the varied activates that their parents may use to ‘entertain’ themselves on a quiet night.

I know that the next time one of my ‘Asian brothers’ looks slyly in my direction and mutters something in some cha cha language, I too will be able to respond equally covertly with a few well chosen words.

Definitely worth a copy & paste!
