Read out aloud, since it improves reading comprehension by about 70%. You'd be surprised how most people can't understand what's in front of them. Afterall, using two senses is better than using the one. Why do you think they're more arguments on the net than in person? Most people don't understand what they read. It's that simple. Also by reading out aloud you'll highlight missing words.

People are their own worst proofreader, and I wouldn't recommend doing your own.

You are very right.. I just cannot proof my own work, but I need to find someone 'tough' to proof read.

Is it a good way to earn extra cash or is it too much hassle?

Can see proofreading a 500 page book on the complexities of water erosion and limescale as a good method of information extraction in Guantanamo, would break anyones spirit.

As a full time job you'd be lucky to earn 20k a year.

Better to go freelance and combine it with another job.
