Question: Should young offenders be sent to YOI's (Young Offender Institutions), or should the causes of offending behaviour be looked into and dealt with?

Things are getting bad out there though, tough to deal with.

where is the rehabilitation ? how do they expect change without it, and they have to many luxury items tv's, stereos, mp3 players, games consoles where is the punishment in that ? When i done voluntary youth work I heard the same thing all the time "Prisons nothing" but with the current trend of rising prison numbers and current overcrowding problems Maybe they should try a bootcamp system along with education and some on going help after release because many of the current inmates are repeat offenders so the current system is not working.

An once of prevention is worth a POUND of cure.

YOI's should be a cure but I bet they won't be. If the palefaces had the brains to emplement the cure they would have had the brains to prevent the problem in the first place. How is it that can't create decent books to use in the schools. Making money off problems is more important than solving problems to them. If you solve a problem the income stops.
