i remember seeing a documentary about a group of alaskans who were from the northernmost parts who were given special forces status for warfare in the icy regions during one the the wars.
sort of like the apaches were used to speak in their language so germans could not decipher.
other than a few special forces raids at Icelandlike regions winter warfare will not be a factor in the next world war. we are very lucky that sadaam did not have the bomb or we would have been suffering form radiological sickness all around the earth now, at least those who were not vaporized by the initial blasts.
