I am a little confused. Being of mixed race black/white, i am of quite light complexion. but have black features. And asian eyes?? (we always tease the my mom about the mailman being chinese, lol, i could pass for an asian). I go to a school that is predominentley white. And people there just call me black, so i kind of just inhereted my "role". My mother is black and my dad is gone, so i was mostly raised by her and my black side of the family. It is difficult sometimes when I was raised by my Black mother, as a black and some black people refuse to accept me. It is hard sometimes as i strive for belonging. Also what do u think about Mixed people saying N.I.G.G.A.?

I don't believe people have the right to class mixed race people as eitherblack or white simply based onhow they maylook.
If your parents are from different cultural racial backgrounds, then you are a combination of both biologically and in many cases culturally

@ Buda
When you say some black people refuse to accept you, how do they NOT accept you? Is it what they say to you?
If some don't accept you that must mean that some do. Why not be content with that and not bother about the ones who don't 'accept' you? None of us in this world have the luxury of being accepted by everyone anyway, but as long as you are happy with who and what you are, no need to bother about those who don't see you as you would like them to see you. No point losing your mind over it.
By the way, do you desire to use the 'N' word? Personally I don't care what race you are, I don't accept anybody using it - period. Do you feel it's the kind of word you would like to use freely?

I'll take you back to slavery days because it all goes back doesn't it??? LOL...The feel was then, and is now that if you have even one drop of black blood in you, you are black. This is how they classified people:
Negro (said the Spanish way, like the colour black) - Black
Doubloon - half black
Quadroon - quarter black
Octaroon - one eighth black
Mulatto - Negligible mixtures reserved for those with very light hair, skin or eyes (basically the ones who could 'pass for' white)
Give it up for Caribbean history!!! Yay!!! It's the great benefit of growing up in Trinidad...

No if your mixed race your mixed race standard. Just because u have 50% of black in u thatdoesnt make u black. What about the White, or the Chinese or the asain.

Exactly. Just because a person has 'a drop' of afrikaan blood in them, it doesn't negate the other biological heritage. Why should a person of mixed race be forced to neglect a part of who they are in order to satisfy someone else's ideals?

immortal technique says "N****r" and hes not black.
Immortal technique needs to shut up then...

I agree...

It is not about me having two black parents. Though my father helped conceive me and was around for some of my childhood. My mother raised me. She had to be both of my parents, so in a sense I was raised by two black parents. Also where are you from and who is your favourite black artist/actor/political figure?
@ Buda
When you say some black people refuse to accept you, how do they NOT accept you? Is it what they say to you?
I just feel general resentment...
By the way, do you desire to use the 'N' word? Personally I don't care what race you are, I don't accept anybody using it - period. Do you feel it's the kind of word you would like to use freely?
No I do not use this word...

OK let me aska question to all the people who have one non-black parent and want to call themselves black only.
Can you tell me why it is that someof you shun the non-black side of your parentage?
Also please answer this simple question: (not just mixed race people)
Lucy's mother is Chinese and her father is White German.
Is lucy
Asian only?
White only?
both Asianand White?
Mixed race?
or another categorization ?(feel free to add as you see fit)
If you have time, please give reasons for your answer.
Thanx
