The Army

The Army doesn't pay well anymore, I remember a while back a couple of homeless people on the streets that claimed that they served in the Army - Is this where you'd want to be after you served your country?

No. I don't think it should be compulsory for citizens to serve in the Army for 3 years. What about minorities? As long as their are parties in existance like the BNP, you won't get large numbers of black and Asian people joining.

The sitiaution is different for countries like America, though.

No I don't think they should make it like the old days the Army is bollocks it's full of men (and women) high on power trips, they base their discipline on intimidation and bullying-Highly homophobic. The same is true for the TA, I’m not exactly in agreement with lying to soldiers, giving them poor equipment and sending them to a poor country (e.g. Iraq or peace keeping in Somalia) to shoot the crap out of peasants.
