Even though I don't like to use Txt slang. After reading the post about the film "Passion of Christ" and the discussion about Txt speech. I thought it would be intresting to start a thread and get everybody to add various Txt words and there meanings. I will start off with a few:-
Cuz = Because
Gr8 = Great
LOL = Laugh out loud
Luv = Love

This should be interesting. Most of the time I received text which takes me half the day to decipher what the person is trying to say.
I'm back and ready to attack.

This sounds like a whole new language. Someone should compile a dictionary.

Basically, what I do when im textin and tryin to cram everythin i wanna say in, I just take all the vowels out of words:
- doe though
- 4rt thought
- cz 'coz
- bt but
- nar/na no
- jus just
- du do you
I think u get da idea

Heck, and I was only joking. It'll probably take just as long to look up every slang. I tell eveyone if there are sitting at their computer then send me a free text in plain English via O2 or Lycos.blktype
If I managed to learn this new language I suppose I can put it down on my CV. blkscholarLOL

Not that I want to sound like a school teacher, but there are two vowels in doe, two in nar/na, one in jus and one in du. Incidentally, wouldn't it be quicker to write no!
This is a whole new language to me as well, I spend more time trying to work out what the person is trying to say that it takes me longer to read it and it would definatley take me longer to write.

lol @ Camille and Brighter Days
Yeah, lol, i didn't even realise, I suppose it's very rare that i actually say "no" properly and just use the lazy way "naa" or "nar." which is silly really.
Another way I try and squeeze in all my words is making the first letter of a word a capital JusLikeDis. It does get confusing to people who really don't understand my text lingo but ima very frequent texter so it just becomes second nature to abbreviate everything. It gets annoyin tho coz sumtimes when im typin up coursework, the text lingo does tend to creap in.
But what also fustrates me is when people ask me one word answer questions in texts. I am goin to try ma hardest to fill out dat text as much as i can! I'm not gon waste 10p in tellin u one word so like it or not, or gon get an essay in dat text!
banana.gifMore Abbrvs:
- E He
- ImHim
- Es He's
- Prbli Probably
(sounds like i sit down and make dis up init!)
