I'm Nigerian, my hairis natural andpast shoulder length.....some people actually refuse to believeI'm fully African, assuming I'm half Jamaican orhave white in me:?:?:?.....As if African women ( who arent ethiopian or somalian) cant have long hair.

I do'nt really like weaves, never worn one but it seems too hotand to get it done nicely itstoo expencive.

I braid my own hair with extensions, its easy to maintain and look very nice, and my hair grows faster. Cornrows ara fantastic!

Right now im wearin my hair relaxed but thats thething i love about black women they love variety and changin up their appearance.

Ive never worn a weave B4 but from my pic u can see dat i wear braids sumtimes but i feel that this is essential coz sometimes i have 2 give my hair a rest from chemicals and everyday stress.

I personally think weaves r fine if they look ''be-weavable''.

I used to wear weaves, bucouse I think they're nice. I haveAfrican roots, and I also have real African hear.. thats kind of hard to handle. So when Im wearing my weaves that wouldn't bother me for a while.

Im glad we cleared that upniceone.gif

I agree with Ijeoma. I know somalian girls with nappy hair and short hair, I know ghanians, nigerians with loooong hair, an i mean long. lol, 4 people to say they got long hair cuz of where they come from is stupid lol, cause no matter what country you go, no one will have the same hair length. Like one of my friends, she's nigerian and her hair is halfway down her back and very healthy, and someone asked her "is your hair real" she said yes, and they came out with "but i swear your nigerian. Ur hair can't be dat long man". dat had 2 b wun of tha dumbest things I've ever heard about hair, seriously. So yea, it's wrong to say, I'm from somalia so I got long hair or wat not, cuz being from there don't mean you automatically have long hair.

At the end of the day if people are comfortable with wearing weave then why try n make them uncomfortable. It's always da butt of jokes n it's jus stupid, if it looks good it looks good fake or natrual, hair is hair. If a dark skinned girl wants 2wear a blonde weave to her bottom den boi gud luck 2her, if she feels confident enough to wear that den even more ratingz. Natrual, extentions, weave, perms and relaxers if it looks good it looks good no need 2 hate.

Look past da hair and focus on da mindbanana.gif

P-le can do whatever they want to their hair, it is their money after all.

I have never had a weave myself, just plaits, but I hav thought about it. But seeing some bad weaves when i'm out have put me off. I mean my sister paid a lot of money to get a weave, when she got home she was crying because it looked so bad (I didn't disagree).

As long as the weave looks good then there shouldn't be a problem.

P.S to Fernando, just because hair is shiney (as you put it) it doesn't mean its a weave, p-ple are always asking me if my hair is weave because its 'shiney' and because of the texture. But it's all my own hair (not brought in a shop)

Ok, I have to agree with the Nigerian sister! There are alot of African girls with long hair that aren't Somali or Ethiopian.

But, Ladi_Swifty, I think you've crossed the line a bit.. You can't deny that most the Somalian girls don't have long hair. I am Somali and my hair is down to my back. Every Somali girl I know has hair that's down to her ass. Many women in my family cut their hair and it grows back within 3-4 weeks..

I relax my hair because I am sick of curly hair. But my stylist said I should get a relaxer every 3 months because my hair is too thin.confused3

Do youbecome insulted when people ask if it isyour hair ? I mean, it really isn't their buisness. I am simply curious.

Dark prince--

No, it is not an insult.. For me at least, when people ask me if it's my real hair.. I say "of course" ... The one thing that's annoying is when they try to pull it and see if it's yours or not.. But to tell you the truth, I don't find it as an insult.

Ok...lol the touching part. Despite being a male I knwo about the touching part. In the begining it wasn't a big deal. The people became a litle to liberal and I started to get irritated.

^^ I guess girls who know they have weave would've been a bit insulted to be asked questions like "is that your hair?" lol.. They jump out and say "DOES IT LOOK LIKE IT'S MY HAIR?"offtopic.gif
